^ Cop Shoot Cop is a favourite of mine too, ziggywas, but don't expect Dr.John's material to sound anything like Spiritualized!

As you'll notice from the above comments, Gris Gris is his best album, with the highlight being I Walk On Gilded Splinters .
In my music collection, not a lot of the music actually makes me feel like smiling or dancing, but two tracks by Dr.John are irrepressibly cheerful imo: Iko Iko and Junko Partner. For that very reason, I'm not playing them these days.

^ Sorry, ziggywas, but that really doesn't count. To listen to Gris Gris, you have to put on either facepaint or a decorative head-dress, then burn incense and sit in a darkened room. If available, you should also release a box of frogs in the room so that the sound of the original album is enhanced by random croaking.

Are you saying you don't listen to it in a swamp?

^

ziggywas is a Dr. John novice, so it's best to break him in gently. This is what happened last time I went to a swamp to listen to Gris Gris and I don't think ziggywas is ready for it yet:-

I used to masturbate furiously to that film, but that fugly Cosby show girl always made me go limp.

Yeah, they spent all night with him as he was passing and just reminded me of my experience of that. It's kind of surreal seeing somebody you look up to for their strength to be humbled in extremely agonizing pain in their last breaths of life. Terrible.

"It still hurts me to look at that cover because that was a personal thing I went through... I still feel the pain from the fact I've got a bullet in my brain... I think it was pretty wrong to do it, even though I went along with the program at first."
