i m ashamed to say i know almost nothing about dr. John.
first time i read about him is that he played in an awesome track closing one of my all time favorite albums. may he rip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKmrQ-Jjuv8 |
^ Cop Shoot Cop is a favourite of mine too, ziggywas, but don't expect Dr.John's material to sound anything like Spiritualized!
As you'll notice from the above comments, Gris Gris is his best album, with the highlight being I Walk On Gilded Splinters . In my music collection, not a lot of the music actually makes me feel like smiling or dancing, but two tracks by Dr.John are irrepressibly cheerful imo: Iko Iko and Junko Partner. For that very reason, I'm not playing them these days. |

i already gave a listen to gris-gris yesterday but i was going around house doing a ton of other stuff at the same time, so i dont have a clear opinion. but i ll try it again for sure. |

Are you saying you don't listen to it in a swamp?

ziggywas is a Dr. John novice, so it's best to break him in gently. This is what happened last time I went to a swamp to listen to Gris Gris and I don't think ziggywas is ready for it yet:- |
I used to masturbate furiously to that film, but that fugly Cosby show girl always made me go limp.

"It still hurts me to look at that cover because that was a personal thing I went through... I still feel the pain from the fact I've got a bullet in my brain... I think it was pretty wrong to do it, even though I went along with the program at first."
