The point was he wasn’t going to capitulate. He didn’t hate women. If he just put that on the cover out of the blue that would’ve been one thing but the argument that he treated women like a “piece of meat” was thrown at him incessantly so finally he said satirically if that’s the case it’s still my right. This cover also came in the time when Larry went through his Evangelical Christian phase.. it can also be seen as a period in time when it may have (strong on the may have part) been a satire on how as a good Christian treating women like meat as seen as bad... though is his "hustle for God " period he said he would continue to publish the magazine,, which lasted for a whole year until he was shot and declared himself an atheist after that... but during that year the magazine did reflect some of this. |
