Pretty weird the way there was some sort of conservatorship and rifts in her family. A very sad end. She'll be missed.

I spoke with her son this morning and I think it'll all work out in the family's favor when it's all over. Court date is coming soon. We'll see!

I'll say it again: is there NOBODY famous you don't know or have contact with? :yikes:

A few years ago I really got into the song "I'll Never Find Another You." "Georgy Girl" was famous when I was a kid, but until recently I never paid attention to any of their other songs. Was really bummed out when I read this today. :(

Judith Durham, Australia's folk music icon, dies at 79
Quote:

MELBOURNE, Australia -- Judith Durham, Australia's folk music icon who achieved global fame as the lead singer of The Seekers, has died. She was 79.

Durham died in Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on Friday night after suffering complications from a long-standing lung disease, Universal Music Australia and Musicoast said in a statement on Saturday.

She made her first recording at 19 and rose to fame after joining The Seekers in 1963. The group of four became the first Australian band to achieve major chart and sales success in the U.K. and the United States, eventually selling 50 million records.

Yes, that's sad, Drive. :(
I remember Judith Durham, the personification of all that was wholesome, innocent and inoffensive in pop back in the old days.
I remember the songs you mention, particularly Georgy Girl. In it's way it was a forerunner, not musically, but because, before the entertainment industry had really got the whole spin-off, sequel, franchise thing down pat, - before that, Georgy Girl was a book, a movie and a hit single all at once. I remember reading the book because I was too young to get into the cinema to see the movie.

Song you didn't mention, Drive: the one about the sleepy train to morning town.

Good one, rostasi! If that version doesn't wake Judith from the dead, then she really has passed on beyond reach. :(
