At last, someone who appreciates the art of shaving.
Merkur 38c Barber Pole, here.
The whole concept of cartridge razors are a complete rip-off strategy by companies like Gillette.

I was looking at a Merkur razor yesterday but ended up getting a Parker Butterfly B82R Heavyweight because I liked the weight of it more than the Merkur. Sadly the only place in town I could find them was a cigar shop so my selection was kind of limited. Still it performed wonderfully this morning, but I am a little weary after reading some reviews saying it breaks after 8-12 months.

I have a Merkur 23c, very similar to that one pictured. For my legs, not my face

Before that I used to use those disposable razors. Utter pieces of shit. I used to get cut all the time, even with new ones. Contrary to what they make you believe, you don't need all that 5 blade crap. Funny, since I believe Gillette was the company who invented or at least initially mass marketed the disposable DE blade safety razor back in the early 1900's.
