Tell everyone what you do for a living?

Well...what puts break on your table?

I cook in a mega kitchen that supplies food for many supermarkets and hot bars the region. And...thats why Im going to go to school!

Mrd00d 03-22-2012 01:43 AM

I am on the dole. I've worked as a cashier my whole working life and I'm currently enjoying this 'vacation'. I f'ed up my unemployment, so I'm only living on food stamps and good will.

Howard the Duck 03-22-2012 01:46 AM

i am a lawyer

i am also schizophrenic and depend on the government for meds

Burning Down 03-22-2012 05:26 AM

I'm still in school. But for money I tutor kids in music theory, and teach flute and guitar. It's great being my own boss! Eventually I want to be a school teacher, teaching music and possibly something else (if I become a high school teacher).

Howard the Duck 03-22-2012 06:13 AM

i used to work as a computer journalist for a local paper

and i used to be a web reviewer for a now defunct Christian-based music site (although we reviewed mostly secular music)

The Fascinating Turnip 03-22-2012 06:17 AM

I live underground with an old lady who I don't know and we suck stones for money.

I was almost killed on the job 13 years so I had to retire early.......

DoctorSoft 03-22-2012 07:51 AM

I used to have a job swamping for a picker driver on ye old rigs, but now I'm just an insane rapper.

Frownland 03-22-2012 08:05 AM

I tutor Algebra and Trig students, mostly kids younger than me but sometimes I give a hand to the kids at the community college in my backyard. I also temp at a mortgage processing company on most weekends.

But this doesn't put break on my table, these jobs are only feeding my disposable funds.

duga 03-22-2012 10:10 AM

I'm a grad student studying plant molecular biology. I spend my days being poor and incredibly stressed.

Guybrush 03-22-2012 10:22 AM

I'm a biologist with a masters degree in ecology who now works as an entomologist, currently identifying species of Vespinae .. which is what people typically think of as wasps.

I spend my days looking through the microscope at cute girls like this one :

Web/print/multimedia designer at an ad agency. I spend my days attempting to be an inexhaustible font of exciting ideas, though it sometimes feels like I'm trying to wring water out of a dry towel.

Phantom Limb 03-22-2012 11:02 AM

I'm a full time student but I also deliver pizzas for Papa Johns which is dope because I basically just get to drive around listening to music.

I worked at Pizza Hut as a cook a few years ago. ****ing drivers, sitting in their cars doing nothing and making all the money while we do all the work. :p:

no auditory or visual hallucinations

just whacky ideas - it sort of steamrolls from being secret police until being the Second Coming

still untreated, i develop a second personality, of which my main personality is unaware of what I did

Sparky 03-22-2012 10:59 PM

Hey that doesn't sound so bad. I get pretty sick of having the same personality all the time, the secret police one sounds way more exciting than actual life

I know, it's crazy. The cooks and managers do all the work and we get paid like twice what they get. It's fucking awesome! :thumb:

Howard the Duck 03-23-2012 12:20 AM

i'm also a full-time pervert

Zer0 03-23-2012 03:04 AM

I'm a research engineer with a bachelors degree in software engineering. My time involves pondering and helping to come up with software and hardware solutions to solve some of life's many problems.

I'm also saving up to do a masters degree.

That's similar to what I just finished my contract doing. I was a digital specialist, getting in touch with business owners and building online ads for them for a social networking media site. Now I'm ill with something or rather, and am waiting for an operation before I get to work again. Currently on a sickness benefit.

Key 03-23-2012 05:38 AM

Used to be a web developer/designer. Currently unemployed unfortunately.

PoorOldPo 03-23-2012 06:35 AM

Never actually earned a paycheck.

However I'm working on making music a career and I volunteer at a pet shop because I love working with animals and I want some experience on my CV.

at least you're doing something you love. If you manage to make a living doing the thing you love, well then I envy you.

Mhm.

Honestly, I don't really know if I want to make a living via music. I love it too much to get signed to a major label and get shelved for years.

CanwllCorfe 03-23-2012 01:49 PM

Out of work masonry laborer. I could probably get another construction job since I have experience, but the only reason I did it is because it was my dad's business. I actually kind of miss it.

I know the feeling, I got my first real job at a lumberyard when I was 15 because my grandfather use to own it. As labourous as the job was, going home tired but with a feeling of accomplishment was nice. I've always been interested in masonry, I tried forming but absolutely hated it, same with steel-stud framing.

Unknown Soldier 03-23-2012 03:21 PM

I'm a waste management consultant and have a masters degree in this. In theory this should be a great job, but it really sucks at the moment due to the continuing global recession, as nobody really gives a crap at the moment about waste minimisation in the UK. I actually work from home, due to cutbacks in the industry. Before that I worked as an estate agent and times were really good and before that..............well piss off, I'm not telling my life story on here!

Yup. That's what I miss the most. And what kind of forming do you mean?

I'm a chef but truth be told it's not exactly high end and the pay is crap but I have been working with food in some capacity or other for well over 10 years now either as a chef or manager.

I really would love to work in the music business as a journalist or something similar.

Concrete forming, I would not recommend it.

Freebase Dali 03-23-2012 05:11 PM

Since I'm currently a full-time student and don't actually work, I'll go ahead and outline my previous work experience, and what I'm going to be doing in a few months.

First job, I was a car detailer.
Second, I started doing metal fabrication and worked at a factory that built large building heaters.
Third, I stocked a distribution warehouse that supplied beauty salons.
Fourth, I went back to fabrication and worked as a welder/fabricator at a sign and awning company (we built the Wachovia signs, the Best Buy signs, Amscot awnings, etc.)
Fifth, I said f*ck all that and joined the Army as a computer network administrator because I figured the job would include air conditioning. Did that for 6 years and got out.
Now I'm full time schooling for Computer Network Administration with a free ride from VA, and will graduate in the summer.
Then.. I hope to get a job in that field and will turn down anything lower than 40,000 a year.

Fingers crossed.

I more or less got my degree in Early Childhood Education to be a preschool teacher and then realized I didn't really want to teach, I was just going through the motions because it was an easy option for me. Now I'm a Religious Studies student and work in a local, independent bookstore to pay the bills. In a perfect world I will end up being a writer/musician who has studied all of the things that interest me.
