What do you want to do in the new year?

Resolutions if you will. What do you hope to achieve in 2013?

Frownland 12-20-2012 09:23 PM

I plan not to die, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Cuthbert 12-20-2012 09:29 PM

Sorry if repost I realise this is a cliched thread sorry :(

find a new man to bang
get back in school

PoorOldPo 12-20-2012 09:33 PM

Try my best to improve as an artist and get very good at AutoCad and Photoshop.

Freebase Dali 12-20-2012 09:36 PM

I plan to maintain my current lifestyle.
This is a solid plan, because although my income has risen dramatically, if my lifestyle doesn't increase in cost, I will be able to buy a house in late 2014 with plenty left over for furnishing and savings.

Pretty much my whole goal in the next couple years is all about this. I don't mind not going out all the time though, nor do I mind buying store-brand commodities. I'm thinking it will be easy, so long as I avoid girls past the one-night-stand stage.

Gotta wear shades.

Not because I'm suicidal or anything, but if you don't get your hopes up, when things work out or not, you're not disappointed. Things working out is like a little bonus.

-Frank Zappa, although I mutilated the quote most likely.

That's a relief :) I thought it was that, had to be careful just in case though.

I guess that makes sense.

Janszoon 12-20-2012 09:41 PM

Awww...

I need to drop a couple of dress sizes back to 100lb.

I want to go to more gigs, make more friends, finish my Software Development Diploma, and save money!

You have any experience in .Net and C ++?

Blarobbarg 12-21-2012 12:46 AM

Love more abundantly, live more freely, thank more graciously, hug more legitimately, sing more loudly, dance more happily, laugh more boisterously, and know more truly.

That was beautiful.

Vertigo 12-21-2012 02:07 AM

Stop swearing. I really do want to achieve this, in both the verbal and written form.

Try to raise my children as well as I possibly can.

Stop perving at women's asses....ah, what the hell - two out of three won't be too bad.

Yes! The world needs more software engineers, especially female ones :D There was only one girl in my college course, otherwise it was a total dickfest. A similar story with work. What language(s) are you using? Please say Java.

Not quite sure what I want to achieve next year. A new car is definitely at the top of my most wanted list. Maybe exercise more regulary, maintain a better diet and quit smoking for good (the same old crap everyone says but never sticks to).

I take it you've tried before then?

Sounds like Seneca.

I'd like to exercise regularly to reduce my overall stress/depression and maybe lose 10kg.

Dayvan Cowboy 12-21-2012 04:28 AM

You tried this mate? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Illustrated-.../dp/1848379307

Check the reviews, nearly a thousand reviews, 4.8 star average rating. There is a DVD too, I've watched it and it's brilliant.

The crux of the method is he will basically take any excuse you use for smoking and debunk it, exposing it for the illusion that it is. Sounds obvious but I know real heavy smokers who have quit and swear by this, myself included. Smoke free for about 3 years now.

Quit Smoking Advice - Allen Carr - YouTube

Good luck to everyone trying to quit in 2013 :)

Circe 12-21-2012 04:54 AM

I don't really do New Year's Resolutions much but I might try and quit smoking this year as well. May as well give my lungs a few months of respite before I go to Uni and get caught up in it all again.

Yeah I've tried a few times. I've managed to cut down over the past six months though, I mostly smoke now when I have a drink in front of me but I'm hoping to quit altogether. My family has a history of lung cancer and smoking-related deaths so I'm very aware of the health issues.

Circe 12-21-2012 05:05 AM

Maybe when the New Year comes along we could start up a Quitting Smoking thread and try and help each other along or something? I certainly wouldn't want to go to a real life meeting but just making offhand mentions of any moments of doubt I had in the day and seeing that other people have it the same way here would be pretty comforting.

Yeah I was like that so I quit alcohol as well, these days I can have a beer now and then and be OK as long as I time it correctly.

LoathsomePete 12-21-2012 08:44 AM

Get my savings back on track and stop making the minimum payments on my credit card and just get the thing paid off (my limit is super low so my bank doesn't hassle me that much). I'm also looking at finding a one-bedroom apartment somewhere because as cool as my room is, this house is just too old and lacks pretty much all the modern touches that people are use to, like heat.

In 2013 I hope to learn Spanish. I just started this week, getting myself familiar with the language and pronounciations etc.

Yeah I'm just thinking it would be worth it because I looked fecking hot at that weight.

Happy new years! I didn't go out I just sat at home, sick and played computer games.

Ooh yeah I should start learning French again

Chives 12-31-2012 11:42 PM

Figure out what I'm doing school-wise and maybe learn to drive. Seem like reasonable goals.

Freebase Dali 12-31-2012 11:59 PM

I've never been one for new year resolutions. I've always found people that use a date as motivation for improving their lives to be absolutely ridiculous and weak personnel....

pERSONNEL.

ThePhanastasio 01-01-2013 02:40 AM

I just want to keep on with what I'm doing. I went on a pretty horrendous plunge for a couple of years, but dug myself out. I want to keep with the stability for a bit, and still find time to work on things I'm passionate about. I want to finish some projects I'm working on, and I'd like to move to Los Angeles. That's more of a five-year-goal, though; I really don't think I'd be able to get there in 2013. Hitting LA before I'm 30, though...that's the plan.

Bloozcrooz 01-01-2013 05:34 AM

I wont promise myself too or anything but I wouldn't mind learning and improving some more on guitar. Hopefully not invest as much emotionally into a football team this year and do more for others. Definately want to avoid any serious relationships also cause that just asks to complicate things in life. Considering how much of an ass I tend to be though I doubt I'll have any problems with that.

Franco Pepe Kalle 01-01-2013 10:33 AM

My objective for 2013 (Language Edition)

My objective for 2013 is that I will be able to know or know some of Six Languages.

English
French
Lingala
Portuguese
Spanish
Swahili

I would love to be able to communicate in those six languages and I can become really Multi-Lingual. It would make me more diverse than right now.
