Um, I can ~possibly~ know what I'm talking about because I can get pregnant. Any decent male would realise it's a clump of cells and "not his child", it may have the potential to become a baby with his DNA, but it is not his child. Why should his "feelings" about a clump of cells be "respected". Is it not a painful situation for a woman?

no. you simply can't. a man has no choice in the matter. you do not know that feeling, and you never will. and of course it's a painful situation for a woman, of which i myself can never imagine. i don't believe i disputed that at all. all i'm saying is sure, a woman holds the reins in that situation, and i believe - as i'm sure many males do - that it is perhaps not her duty but simply respectful to inform him of the situation.

also, ascribing decency to the matter of whether or not a male views progeny in its earliest form as life or not is slightly presumptuous.

either way, i wasn't trying to hijack the thread or look to convince people of my viewpoint. i'm just offering up some perspective from an experienced male's point of view.

I was saying that I think it's important to know someone's sexual history before you sleep with them to know about any potential diseases, etc, if you're monogamous. If both of you are dating other people at the same time then it's important to let them know THAT, and you can just assume that they're sleeping around as well. And if the relationship is open like that, concerns about STD's, pregnancies, etc should be at the forefront.

I'm lost. Wasn't this thread about internet relationships? You guys all jumped on Francis and while I won't take sides I don't think he intended for it to be a discussion about his personal life. Now someone's dropping "VD" and "abortion" and it might as well be the Sexual Experience Thread. :usehead:

this thread is about internet hookups, whether they are long term or short term
In response to the OP, I think internet hookups are short term. When meeting up with someone online purely to hookup, form me it lasted anywhere from 2 days to 1 month. All in all, pretty short term.

The first guy was Adam. He was stocky, blond, and Polish. He took me to a movie (the title of which escapes me), and afterward started making out next to his car. We jumped into the backseat and things got gnarly. I was like dude, I just met you. Here's my number. Call me. I was interested at the time, but then he turned out to be an obsessive stalker who got jealous of everyone, even my girlfriends.

The second guy was Chris. Dirty stoner hippie. We walked around for a day and then started making out in a park. He tried to feel me up and I was like, this guy smells bad. Didn't hang out with him again, but he tried to keep in touch.

The third guy was Alex, who actually lasted longer than the previous two guys, despite his incredibly small package. He was the tallest and most handsome of the three, but I laughed out loud when I depantsed him on the third date. It was like...the size of my thumb.

My conclusion from this: guys (and probably girls) looking for hookups online usually have something wrong with them. I had something wrong with me too, in those days.

*sigh*

^ So I guess since I met my current girlfriend (who lives with me now) online, there's something wrong with me?

EDIT: I reread your post and you were focused on the "hookup" part. My bad.

She's a girl for craps sake. Of course she bloody can. She's told you twice already.
