ive got crates upon crates of vinyl, wouldnt give them up for anything. Like mentioned above, there is alot of music out there on vinyl that cant be found on cd and vice versa. I personally love the sound of vinyl, and searching through old records. Theyre just so much more awesome and make good conversation pieces. When I buy new vinyl, I burn them onto a cd so i can listen in my car and at work, and i do buy cds that werent ever put on vinyl. But thers 12"s, 10"s, 7"s, 33rpm, 45rpm, 78rpm, picture disks, double lps, 1 sided lps, etc... theres just such a wide variety of differant styles that make record collections superior over any other formats.

Thats my big problem is that I have to figure out how to get my records onto cdr. I've been trying all kinds of different stuff out, but I cant get iot. Ill have one of my computer nerd friends come over and figure it out for me. Because Im dying to get my Doom and FAR stuff on cd and I dont feel like buying the acctual cds. Eventually Id like to back up all my stuff on cdr.
But anyway i totally agree. You cant find all the collectable stuff ov vinyl on cd anywhere. A "special limited edition" cd has a fancy paper cover where a ltd. record is probobly hand numbered has a special cover and comes in a special format. Everything about them just makes you feel special. And fenix dont forget the 6" the 8" and the flexis! |
i dont own any 6" or 8" (although my bassist i think might have a few) but yeah, cant believe i forgot about flexis. have you seen the records "Thick Records" make? I have a Blue Meanies picture disk on Thick, and the record is so...uh....thick. Reminds me of the old 78"s from way back in the day.

So much vareity... God I don't have enough Vinyl, there isn't even a record store in this city anymore, it makes me cry.

I own several Vinyl's my favorite being Agent Orange's "Living In Darkness"
but they still cannot compare. i just feel spending 120+ dollars on it is quite the waste of money |
Well I've probly spent more than that, just not all at once.

The whole Northern Soul scene in England (fast, black Amercan soul music) relies heavily on original 60's vinyl. The rarer the better!
D.J.s at allnighter venues are expected to play nothing but vinyl. These rare soul records exchange hands today, for 10's, 100's and even 1000's of pounds. Do I Love You - Frank Wilson sold for a cool 15,000 quid ( only 3 known copies in the world) in recent years! I know one D.J. who's been collecting since the 70's, he had his spins valued at just over £100,000. Definately NOT a waste of money. Vinyl has something...dunno...guess it just feels better to own than a cd. |
It does, My vinyl records are like my children
