The WTF??? thread

This thread is dedicated to stuff you've seen that made you think "WHAT THE F_UCK???" Maybe it even made you blurt it out loud. This covers weird, inexplicable behavior or inexplicable objects you've seen.

I'm ruling out UFOs. I don't give a s-hit about that stuff. Unless it is absolutely spectacular, save it. I'm looking more for the stuff you've seen that just made you pause for a second and say to yourself, "What the f-uck??"

I'll kick it off. Back in '85 I was stationed in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard (which doesn't exist anymore) and one day, I came up out of the subway onto a street I can't remember the name of now. I don't think it was Chestnut but maybe it is. As I hit the sidewalk, there was nobody on the street at all. It was momentarily deserted. Before long, there would be people or cars going by but I caught it at a sleepy moment.

I saw only one other person, walking towards me--a middle aged to elderly woman. She walked purposefully and with an even tread. She had a purse swinging on her arm and her palm was facing up. She had on a little hat and a necklace that looked like pearls--typical stuff for an older woman.

But as she got closer to me, I realized to my shock that she was choking--horribly. Her eyes were turned up towards the sky and her tongue was stick ing out and quivering. She was making a horrible rasping sound as she walked--"GHGHGGHGH-AGHGHGHGH-UGHHAHGHGHGHGH!"

I was so shocked that I stopped in my tracks and just looked at her as she passed not 4 feet from me. She took no notice of me whatsoever but just walked past me still choking. I got a good look at her profile as she passed. I'll never forget it. I can still see it. Her eyes thrust up towards the sky kind of flickering, if you know what I mean. Her tongue jutting out of her mouth which was wide open. Her tongue quivering back and forth between her lips. Yet she walked with purpose. She wasn't stumbling about aimlessly. Never appealed to me for help. She walked like she knew exactly where she was going and didn't seem to be in a hurry to get there. As she passed me I heard, "AAGHGHGHGHCHCHCHH-AAAGHGHGGHH" as though an invisible hand were strangling her but she wasn't going to let that stop her from going about her business.

I turned to watch her as she passed and she just walked down the same subway steps I had just come up and vanished into the darkness. I just stood there a second staring after her thinking about that Alice Cooper song--"Ballad of Dwight Frye" where he sings, "I ran into the street / I saw a man who was choking there / I guess he couldn't breathe /Said to myself this is very strange / I'm glad it wasn't me." And I wondered if whoever wrote those lyrics saw the same kind of thing I just did. To this day, I still wonder about that.

Lord Larehip 09-17-2013 07:15 PM

A co-worker told me this one: he was heading home from work and was on the expressway which was moving slowly in the rush hour traffic. At one point, he looked down at the curb and saw something so horrible that it took him a moment to realize was it was: a middling sized dog in a crouched position. What was horrible about it was that it had no head and no front paws. Both had been chopped clean off--seemingly in the same fell swoop. Like a large blade wielded with savage speed cut right through the dog's neck and front paws.

The rest of the animal was intact--back, belly, back legs, tail. He wasn't sure what kind of dog it had once been. I offered that perhaps a large truck ran over its front section as it tried to cross the freeway. But he said there was nothing else there. Surely, if the dog met its end that way, the head and paws would have left a nasty stain on the concrete but there was nothing. If someone had left it there, why? And they would have had to pose it since it was sitting upright which would be very unlikely if it was pushed or thrown from a vehicle.

He said when he first saw it, it took him a second to realize that he was looking down the bloody stump of its open throat. "It was sicker than sick," he said.

Why? What harm was caused?

Sansa Stark 11-18-2013 01:59 PM

Are you actually for real here

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 02:02 PM

The guy was naked and kinda creepy (or funny depending on your point of view). But he didn't abuse anyone in the story.

Sansa Stark 11-18-2013 02:05 PM

How is that not abuse!?

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 02:10 PM

Nevermind. We'll agree to disagree.

If you think it's abuse, it's abuse.

If you don't, it isn't.

Ain't everything in life like that.

Sansa Stark 11-18-2013 02:12 PM

I wonder how it feels to be so utterly passive about everything in life.

butthead aka 216 11-18-2013 02:18 PM

charlie youre right and i feel the same way. women in particular are like super sensitive when it comes to any sort of 'sexual harassment' or whatever. doesnt mean its ok to walk around naked lol but also prob not as big if a deal as a lot of ppl pretend it is

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 02:22 PM

I think the rabbit ears helped make it funny.

I'm trying really hard not to be too angry here. In case you didn't know, DC was almost certainly at the time of this incident no more that 17 years old (correct me if I'm wrong here). I'm going to give you the benefit of a doubt that you didn't know that, and that information makes a difference.

And if you thing flashing underage kids is harmless, well, again I will assume for now that you don't.

Of course you'd think it's not that big of a deal to flash a minor. Good job.

i just said it wasnt ok but do i think 'sexual harassment' is a really broad term that a lot of ppl are way too sensitive about? yes i do. when i hear 'abuse' i usually think somethin a little more serious than some weirdo with his pants down. most would probablt agree. she prob continued livin her life exactly how she woulda had that guy not been there. it just isnt a big deal. had he raped her then yea it would be, but he didnt. not ok but also not a huge deal

speaking of wtf... i SWEAR i saw crazyvegn the other nite or exactly how i imagine her. was at this club i go to a lot call buckheads. theres a stage up front where girls dance and a smaller dance area below the stage. im a few jager shots, 8 beers and a cuervo shot deep at this point just lovin life and goin to the dance area. i feel someone grab my arm kinda roughly and turn me around. its this small girl who looks about 30, doesnt seem drunk in the slightest with big eyes and that thousand yard stare. she says 'im gettin kicked out of here by that guy' and points to the bouncer nearby. the bouncer isnt payin attention to her and im like 'fukc that lets dance wooooooo' and i kinda turn away to live my life.

she grabs me again and im lookin at her and she isnt sayin a word. just starin like thru my soul. i repeat myself and tell her to join in the dance floor. she just stares more. by this time one of my buddies had walked up near me to see what was goin on. she looks at him and pushes his beer purposely like kinda into his face. so hes like 'dafuq you doin, what your problem, etc' she doesnt say a word, jsut stares with these big eyes until the bouncer grabs her and physically picks her up and removes her. i swear it was crazyvegn

You don't get to decide what is or isn't a huge deal. Only the person being abused gets to decide that but I don't expect someone with your privilege to get that.

Thats like saying its not a big deal to wave a gun around in a school because actually shooting people is worse. Obviously there are degrees but cmon dude not everything is because people are too sensitive.

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 02:54 PM

Waving a willy around and waving a gun around are very different.

lol. well actually i do decide that. and i just decided its not a huge deal. im sure dayvan could provide more context to make the situation more clear. but it didnt sound like a huge deal to me. or her actually considerin the way it was phrased and no mention of any follow up police report or anythin

well i know you can already see how different those situations are. just not somethin i would consider a big deal. if she were my daughter id certainly tell her to take a new route. because news flash, there are unstable ppl all over the place. but im imaginin some guy on his porch wearin nothin but bunny ears and its more comical than serious

Ninetales 11-18-2013 03:03 PM

Yes i know waving a gun and waving your dick around is different. My point is you cant justify something being not bad by providing a worse alternative.

This needs to be added to Mirriam-Webster.

Butthead, you have some very insensitive and behind-the-times views on women's issues.

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 03:33 PM

I think Butthead is just saying it as he sees it. Just like we all do. Whatever our opinion.

butthead aka 216 11-18-2013 03:36 PM

in a few posts we went from a guy in rabbits ears wavin his cock around to wavin a gun in school

if that doesnt say somethin for the exact mindset im talkin about im not sure what does tbh

GuD 11-18-2013 03:41 PM

It's fine to say how you see something. It's also fine to point out someone's ignorance in hopes that they'll come around and see things the way they really are.

No one knows for sure but the man who solicited her may have been convicted for being a sexual offender. He might've been a rapist. Sure, she got out okay and is fine now but just the possibility of something like that is enough to warrant the reactions here. It's not something you just shrug off and say "Oh well, at least she wasn't molested LOL!" about.

Mr. Charlie 11-18-2013 03:51 PM

You allude to seeing the event the way it really was. But what was the reality of it? I'll admit I have no idea. All I know is some naked guy in rabbit ears said come get some lovin'. That's all any of us know.

Whether we see it as funny, creepy, trivial, digusting, harmless, dangerous, we're all using the same information to reach an opinion. In other words we all used ignorance as our signpost.

Frownland 11-18-2013 04:13 PM

I'm with Charlie on this one. The way that Dayvvan describes it does paint the situation somewhat comically because of how bizarre it is. That obviously doesn't excuse his actions, ffs. Not to mention that since the situation didn't end badly for her (I'm assuming) it can be looked upon as a strange and somewhat funny event, even if it does have a dangerous or creepy element to it.

the bolded part is what i did. i think theres a natural reaction to get overly offended/outraged/up in arms about certain things because its just expected. i reject those feelins and just look at what things really are instead of throwin down a bunch of loaded words like 'abuse' (lmao). a girl was walkin home from school, some guy had his cock out.... ok, well is anyone hurt? no... ok, well why would anyone think its a big deal then?

maybe he is a rapist, who knows. i think most rapes occur with ppl you know and this guy was a stranger. so should i be wary of all the ppl i know too?? i realize he gives reason to belive hes unstable and more likely of a sex crime given hes naked lol but i feel like your lookin at it as if its a fluid situation happenin right now. we have the benefit of hindsight here, nothin happened, and we know that

maybe nobody does actualyl think its a big deal but it seemed that way to me. doesnt mean its appropriate but it obviously wasnt a serious thing either
