Similar situation happened to us, kinda. We had just moved to San Diego and signed a year lease on a townhouse. Got all settled in and then got notice 3 months later that the unit had been sold and we had to GTFO in 30 days.

my next door neighbor (a young black man who recently lost his mother either to death or incarceration - I haven't been able to figure it out from the conversations I've overheard) is being forced out of his apartment, either because he hasn't paid the rent or because he literally threw his baby-mama (a woman who apparently is "not welcome in mah momma's house") down the stairs when she came knocking a few weeks ago.

not sure if the same thing would be an issue if the tenant was white.
