Yeah I don't think that's right. I believe it's just when you're poor but spend beyond your means on nonsense like cars, jewelry, and comic book omnibi. If it's the same as hood rich then nigga rich in my experience often denotes a temporary influx of money that allows one to purchase said items (e.g. you just got paid so you're hood/nigga rich).

This is pretty much it. It also includes people that are rocking jewelry and new kicks in their collection, wearing clothes to make them look like they are living a life that they aren't but still stuck at home with their parents and taking the bus. Or they get an expensive ass car and still living in the projects and can barely afford gas.
