Sorry for being thick, but that puts them in your itunes library. Can you just drag them to your ipod then? Anyway you still have to use itunes: I'm talking about pure drag and drop. You grab your folders off the hard disk, drag them to your player and they copy over. No proprietary software (no software at all) required. Creative definitely have the edge in this regard. Two steps only, one really, drag and release. It's done. No need to import into library then drag from library to player. Or you can copy/paste direct.

What? Whoever tells you the earbuds are terrible doesn't know WTF they're talking about. They're very good, just WICKEDLY overpriced, but they sound very good.

Also, on the note of iTunes, it's annoying if you want to micromanage and assign every conceivable tag for your songs, but I just organize songs into different playlists and that's it.

I have the playlist and song information backed up 5 times on different flash drives just in case something happens to it.

I had a creative Zen player a few years ago but once I had my Zune that was a wrap. I loved that device. Now I just drag and drop music onto my Nexus 7 until I get another Zune player.

Thanks Rostasi. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it. But itunes does weird things, for me at any rate. A lot of it depends on the ID3 tags but if something is labelled as say Genesis for eight tracks out of ten and the last two are labelled differently (GENESIS or genesis or Genesus or whatever) it makes separate folders for those. I don't like the way it does that. I am someone who will never use itunes. I also hate the Genius thing on the sidebar and the attempts to try to sell you music as you browse. I don't like the way Album is always shown first and then Artiste and you can't change how that's displayed.

I could go on for hours about the things I hate about itunes. I'll never use it. I'd rather be the guy who has "Trollheart's Music Centre" on his hard disk than the guy with the "itunes" library. I just hate the bloody thing and nobody will ever change that. I'm very happy with my players and I don't need itunes or ipods in my life. If it works for you guys that's great but I'll stick with what I'm used to.

I've had an 80GB iPod Classic for over 6 years but I find myself using my phone for music more than my iPod these days. The storage capacity of the iPod Classic is a major plus, there's little out there that comes close to it (160GB is the standard now). However, I find that just copying a few albums onto my phone and switching them around is more convenient, no point having both my phone AND my iPod when going about my daily business.

And yes, Apple earbuds that come with iPods sound bad. And that's comparing them with a pair of mid-range Sennheiser earbuds and a pair of Philips earbuds I have.

Well, I did say 'usually' which I thought was true. But apparently you're the one who should explain to non-Apple users how they can do a simple drag and drop from iTunes.

Why would I explain to non-Apple users how to drag and drop from iTunes when I don't even use iTunes at all what so ever and never need to?

I just have to drag and drop the album from the current folder it is in to the device drive when it's plugged in.

They're pretty awful compared to high-end headphones, but they are absolutely not a POS. Maybe six or seven years ago they were terrible, but they're pretty good now. They even released new headphones for the 5S that are in-ear I believe.
