I think we need the cutest pet award.

Sounds like a good idea. Especially because I'm the only one.

EDIT: Goddamnit you two ninjas.

@ Frownland

People nominate in the thread. Then the categories are posted with the nominees. You PM your vote from the selection.

That's pretty much how I was planning to do it after some consideration. Just seems easier.

I think as it's been such a bumper year for this category this year I'd like to suggest instead of awarding just one award we should award Gold, Silver and Bronze for the Howard the Duck Memorial Award for Most Inane Member.

Not a bad idea, I like it.

Only Urban would win that though.

Also, sorry for such late replies. Busy week, but i'm on vacation starting tomorrow evening, so perhaps we can start the voting during that week, unless people want to wait until December, which is perfectly fine. Seems to make more sense that way.

Pet_Sounds 11-07-2014 05:14 AM

How about best "I'm leaving the site because I don't fit in and you're all mean" speech?

Trollheart 11-07-2014 05:40 AM

I'd also like to suggest scariest/most surreal avatar. Some of you have ones that really are just, you know, out there... :yikes:

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-07-2014 05:43 AM

Why would that be award worthy though?

Key 11-07-2014 08:49 AM

I'm keeping avatar / signature awards to being one best avatar / signature award. Any more than that is just unnecessary imo.

Key 11-08-2014 07:51 PM

Categories coming some time tomorrow. Haven't decided if i'll post it here or i'll wait until the voting phase starts. Guess it'll be more for your comfort to know that the categories are ready. If people want me to post them I can do that.

Pet_Sounds 11-08-2014 08:04 PM

Whatever you like. I'd personally prefer them sooner rather than later, as it gives me more time to think about my votes.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

Key 11-08-2014 09:52 PM

Pretty much what the categories will look like. May make some tweaks here and there, but I did my best to add as many as were mentioned in this thread. Some were left out, not for any bad reason, just couldn't include them.

If someone would proofread this, that would be fantastic. I just can't see if i've repeated categories or if there's a few that just don't work. If all is well, we can move onto the voting portion in the next day or so. I stayed away from any "specific post" type categories as I didn't feel it would be able to get narrowed down to 1, even 3 posts. Seemed like it'd be way too much in one category.

The Batlord 11-08-2014 11:01 PM

Wait, so do nominations go in this thread or the main Hall of Fame thread?

Key 11-08-2014 11:07 PM

I'll be making a new thread for voting. Keeping things organised.

The Batlord 11-08-2014 11:15 PM

Hurry up, ****. I've already got my noms.

And should our awards have a name? Like the Embys?

You da Ki(ng).

Trollheart 11-09-2014 05:31 AM

I love the Embys! Let's call em that. We need a logo too... I'll get working on one.

Goofle 11-09-2014 05:43 AM

Great work Ki. Look forward to nominating.

OK

First of all what happened to Best Music Contributor & Biggest Site Contributor. Two of the most meaningful awards on there?

Why have separate awards for TV, Film & Books when it can be summed up as best media forum contributer like it was last year?

What happened to best Sports contributer?

Why re-name Angriest Member of the Year to the Grumpy Old Man Award? There are plenty of young or female miserable bastards here, your own girlfriend being case in point.

Why no award for best musician on the site? what happened to Virtuoso of the Year?

Lifetime Achievement Award gone.

Dude's got the Grumpy Old Man award on lock!

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-09-2014 07:54 AM

Who's being grumpy?
He wanted someone to go through it.

Pet_Sounds 11-09-2014 07:57 AM

I like WD's idea of best contributor in each of the various forums. So:
"Best Contributor: Rock and Metal"
"Best Contributor: General Music"
"Best Contributor: Country, Folk, and World"
etc.

Me too. Kiiii, pleeeease?

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-09-2014 08:10 AM

You realise there are 17 different music forums right?

Well, I'm assuming only the main twelve would be represented. People don't have to nominate somebody in a forum they don't frequent. I've never posted in the Soul and Funk board, for example. It would be a way to recognize members who contribute to the discussions in each forum. For example Lisnaholic in Country, Folk, and World, Silenzio in Classical, etc.

Isbjørn 11-09-2014 09:08 AM

Feck. I'll have no chance of winning one of those if the emo subforum isn't represented.

Exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. Honestly, I knew I may have taken some categories out that I shouldn't have. Gonna edit the list.

You like the idea but you're not the one who's having to go through all the votes at the end.

I know you already made the thread but you could simplify things by limiting people's votes. So for the nominations people could nominate, oh, three people in three different genres. Or there could be an entirely different awards thread dedicated to the idea- something I'd totally be willing to do if enough people were interested. It's up to you guys, I'll let the responses or lack thereof be the deciding factor. As of right now it really seems like the awards focus more on non-musical things.

Not too sure what you're getting at here. The nominations are limited to 3 people per category and there are plenty of music related categories. 11/33 categories are based more towards music related and that's not including the underrated/overrated poster award and thread of the year which all 3 could easily be considered music related, which if that were the case, would bring the fraction up to 14/33 which is almost half of the award categories. I posted the categories in this thread before doing this and people said it was okay, otherwise I wouldn't have started the thread.

GuD 11-13-2014 03:05 AM

Just that a couple peeps were into the idea and seemed bummed that it (sort of) wasn't gonna happen. I actually didn't notice the best music contributor category which would sum it up better and more easily.

TheBig3 11-13-2014 08:46 AM
