I still have a shitload of Christmas cards.

Does anyone else want one?

I'd love one, but my mom would freak if I got a Christmas card from "someone on the internet".

My mom knows I post on a couple forums. She doesn't know which, or my username, but she trusts me not to get into any crap.

I'm looking forward to my tradition of watching Bad Santa without the kids around. With the kids, we watch the usuals like George C. Scott's A Christmas Carol, the musical White Christmas, and whatnot.

This one has caused a bit of debate here since it was aired shortly after Nov. 11th.

I like it. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know this happened. Surely enlightening people like me can only be a good thing.

Last call for cards.

perks of having a card from me:
  • you get to have something I licked (if you're really creepy)
  • I tend to write a lot if I like a person
  • ???
  • you can sell it if I ever become a bestselling author
  • you can use it if you run out of toilet paper (if you're a jerk)

Cuthbert 12-10-2014 06:10 PM

Very nice gesture LiL. Merry Christmas.

btw are you talking about posting cards to addresses?

ladyislingering 12-10-2014 06:45 PM

Yes.

I think I saw the same guy. He was wearing camo and taking one of his injured deer to the vet in the back of his truck.

Frownland 12-11-2014 10:31 AM

What are you guys doing for gifts? I'm getting my dad a cigar box guitar kit, my friend a cassette of Naked City's Torture Garden, my sister a vinyl copy of Andrew Jackson Jihad's People That Can Eat People Have Long Album Titles, and a box of chocolates for my grandma.

DwnWthVwls 12-11-2014 11:45 AM

I'm getting nothing for everyone.

Cigar box guitar sounds totes rad dude!

I'm being a lame brokeass and making everyone prserves and sauces. Special friends get a bonus jar.

Pet_Sounds 12-11-2014 08:20 PM

I've got a Billy Joel biography for my grandma. She's a huge fan. Still working on the rest of my family.

ladyislingering 12-11-2014 08:26 PM

I might have to skip Christmas for my biological family this year because I have other responsibilities but I'm writing cards for humans I love more than others and I'm doing small gifts for my wonderful Seattle family, so I think I have all bases pretty much covered.

Edit: I told my mom today that I wasn't doing Christmas. She reacted favorably.

Scarlett O'Hara 12-13-2014 08:28 AM

I'm so broke I literally only could afford a present for my mom. Can't wait till I'm working!

Plankton 12-13-2014 09:14 AM

Make it so.

My big sister is 27 on December 22nd, plus Christmas. Still not bought owt. She wants GHD hair straighteners I think it is but she's got no chance. I have been looking online and they are like £100+

Mother Benteke always says she doesn't want anything but I'll buy her something anyway. Not sure what.

Me and my dad are on the same level, we both think buying presents for the sake of it because it's Christmas is silly.

But it was his birthday on December 5th, so I'm taking daddy Benteke to a soccer match this Sunday. I wanted to go to the match with him anyway. Killing two birds with one stone

ladyislingering 12-14-2014 06:07 PM

I bought a thing for my future in-laws today but still have no idea what to get everyone else in my life.

All I want for Christmas is to get tipsy with some good people, spin some great records, get a lot of sleep, and gather a lot of affection from the one I love.

I'm just so over the whole Christmas thing as it is.

GuD 12-14-2014 09:33 PM

I've garnered a reputation for my lack of holiday enthusiasm and being a ****ty gift-giver... this year I think I've done it right. I made some nice things for some people, the best of which by far is probably a pair of shorts that I decorated with rainbow stripes around the legs for Annie, my mom's girlfriend. It's her kind of thing. I did good this year, I hope

Key 12-14-2014 10:43 PM

Man, screw Christmas. I'm getting my parents a bottle of wine and that's it. Can't waste money on people I hardly talk to, family wise.

same.

I get one-upped by everyone every year and it's less irritation to go simple and know you're going simple.

I haven't really felt excited for Christmas at all this year. But when I opened the fridge, I saw a Ziplock bag with blocks of smoked Gouda, aged Dutch cheese, Brie, and some other types that have onions and stuff in them. On the bag it said 'for Christmas Eve'.

Needless to say I'm excited for Christmas now.

ladyislingering 12-21-2014 07:18 PM

This Christmas I wrote heartfelt letters for people that I care about the very most (and even some I don't really talk to, but you have to start somewhere and you never know who needs a little extra encouragement during the holiday season).

I also asked three of my very favorite ladies (who will hopefully someday be my sisters-in-law) what their favorite types of candies/treats were, filled three custom-constructed baskets full of their absolute favorite goodies and the whole damn thing looks so cute. I'm so excited for Christmas this year.
