And I don't know that I would say vindictive, but plenty of girls (though certainly not all) are ... selectively oblivious? They're not totally aware that they're leading on someone who's into them, but on some level they know and appreciate the attention.

Actually Batlord, he knows that we are not going to be together because I told him I was not interested in that way so he accepted that and we continued on as normal.

i will say sleeping in the same bed as platonic opposite sex friends which started for one party as a love interest is a bit funny to me

Carpe Mortem 02-16-2015 09:13 PM

I didn't read everything but ^ agreed.

Sharing a bed, massages, wearing low cut shirts when its just the two of you.. There's a lot of things that kinda shouldn't be done with bros. Take it from an expert she-bro.

I also think that generally, men and women can't be best friends. Sorry. I know a lot of chicks who have a male best friend and insist its totally cool... But I know twice as many men pining over their 'platonic' best female friend.

'S'wut I'm sayin'.

Carpe Mortem 02-16-2015 09:18 PM

Not to say men and women can't be friends. Literally, my oldest friend is a dude. When its just the two of us hanging though, I forego the makeup and fart openly. We also don't hug bye unless we're drunk.

Be dudely.

Carpe Mortem 02-16-2015 09:21 PM

Idk why I said literally but we been friends for about ten years and it has never once gotten weird.

I used to think it was possible then I fell hard for her and I realized I was a moron. Then she moved on with her life and we grew apart, then we became reacquainted and I no longer had feelings for her. Yada yada yada.. female best friend possible (for me!). I know it's not doable for everyone, and it's still different than a male best friend to some extent but I can absolutely talk to her about sex or whatever, and she's comfortable enough to do the same with me.

Carpe Mortem 02-16-2015 09:24 PM

Look at it this way... Your partner should always be your best friend. So once that special someone comes along, this person is no longer your best friend, they're just a good friend.

The Batlord 02-16-2015 09:27 PM

I know a guy and a girl who are pretty much joined at the hip without being some unrequited thing. Of course, we all kind of think the guy must be asexual or something. Apparently they tried to date once, but it didn't work out, and he doesn't really seem interested in dating in general. Even assuming they were both the same sex, it's still weird just how close they are. If they were brother and sister we'd all be convinced they were having incest and were just really good at hiding it.

Define what a best friend is. To me it is someone you spend a lot of time with, share many different types of common interests, have endless inside jokes, know everything there is to know about each other, call each other nearly every day, rip each other out, laugh at each others farts...and so on. He may have wanted more out of our relationship and he could walk away at any time if it bothered him too much but he's exactly the same towards me as he was before. I have had best mate guy friends all my life. I know sleeping in the same bed sounds bad but it's no different to my girl best friends sleeping in the same bed except they are male. If you find that wrong then it says more about your experiences than mine.

ladyislingering 02-16-2015 10:06 PM

I learned that my then-fiance (circa 2009) was a convicted sex offender the first time I met his father & stepmother - who were visiting our hometown for his hearing.

To this day I can't cite anything more awkward in my life.

The problem with this is that bro culture is ****ing dumb as a box of rocks.

Once again, people are people are people. Not everyone fits this fantasy mould you have in tour head where two peoples mid-stride-equipment determines the way they should interact.

Wait, what kind of hearing happens after the conviction?

I'm afraid I must agree with all of this. If I had been invited into Fran's bed, even with strict understanding that no sex was on the agenda, I'd be confused and I'd feel uncomfortable. What if you reached out and touched her arse in the night, or rolled over on top of her? Can I ask what you both wear when in bed together, because that would have something of a bearing on the understanding I would feel.

I would just think that any woman who invites a man, a friend, into her bed, even given the above, is sending the wrong signals, even if unintentionally. Either that or she's teasing. But it could definitely be misinterpreted and be confusing.

After a conviction there is a sentancing hearing. But once you are sentanced there isn't **** that happens exspect a stint in the creepy man jail. Usually after they get out they are remandated to a halfway house with other skeezers like themselves. Then they register at the sherrifs department. As a sex offender. Google how many live next to you. (In the Us anyway it's ****in scary.)

Oh no no, you misunderstand. I didn't mean bro culture, I meant bro as I view and call my male friends. The word 'homie' means the same thing here.

And I'm just saying that oftentimes, a lot of women are very naive to the fact that unless a guy is gay or particularly feminine, he doesn't hang out with his friends the same way a woman hangs out with her friends. The opposite being true of course, men being naive about women's interests. And acting in such a way that doesn't fit someone's idea of how a friend acts is understandably going to be confusing.

You can say people are people all you want but a lot of chicks share beds together and do lesbian-like stuff that most men don't do. Enough that its a thing.

i really hope that wasn't the case.

Im curious, did you leave him right away after finding out about it? i don't mean to pry i just find the situation interesting.

I don't think there's much strange about sharing a bed. I always have guests sleep in my bed, even ones I've been involved with in the past.

Well, luckily the registry lists their crimes, so their bull**** can quickly be found out. My guy was convicted of "aggravated sexual battery", and "indecent liberties with child by custodian" (custodian = someone taking care of a child but not a parent or legal guardian). It also specifically lists him as violent. So there's not much chance he was just a public whizzer.

i always thought custodian was just another word for janitor. it would be amusing if there were a special charge strictly referring to janitor pedos.

That' s lewd and lascivious behavior, public nudity, or indecent exsposure. Not a sex crime.

3) Peeing in public. At least 13 states require sex offender registration for public urination, according to Human Rights Watch's comprehensive review of sex offender laws in 2007. Two of those states specify that the urination must happen in front of a minor.

the person in question spent several months in jail but was allowed to leave for work. as long as he was obeying the confines of his probation he was alright. I don't know where he is now but the way his mother talked to me when she decided it was necessary to send me a random message a few months ago, he's still locked up.

he was a creepy bastard, though.
