Actually Batlord, he knows that we are not going to be together because I told him I was not interested in that way so he accepted that and we continued on as normal.

I didn't read everything but ^ agreed.

Sharing a bed, massages, wearing low cut shirts when its just the two of you.. There's a lot of things that kinda shouldn't be done with bros. Take it from an expert she-bro.

I also think that generally, men and women can't be best friends. Sorry. I know a lot of chicks who have a male best friend and insist its totally cool... But I know twice as many men pining over their 'platonic' best female friend.

Not to say men and women can't be friends. Literally, my oldest friend is a dude. When its just the two of us hanging though, I forego the makeup and fart openly. We also don't hug bye unless we're drunk.

Be dudely.

I used to think it was possible then I fell hard for her and I realized I was a moron. Then she moved on with her life and we grew apart, then we became reacquainted and I no longer had feelings for her. Yada yada yada.. female best friend possible (for me!). I know it's not doable for everyone, and it's still different than a male best friend to some extent but I can absolutely talk to her about sex or whatever, and she's comfortable enough to do the same with me.

Look at it this way... Your partner should always be your best friend. So once that special someone comes along, this person is no longer your best friend, they're just a good friend.

I know a guy and a girl who are pretty much joined at the hip without being some unrequited thing. Of course, we all kind of think the guy must be asexual or something. Apparently they tried to date once, but it didn't work out, and he doesn't really seem interested in dating in general. Even assuming they were both the same sex, it's still weird just how close they are. If they were brother and sister we'd all be convinced they were having incest and were just really good at hiding it.

Define what a best friend is. To me it is someone you spend a lot of time with, share many different types of common interests, have endless inside jokes, know everything there is to know about each other, call each other nearly every day, rip each other out, laugh at each others farts...and so on. He may have wanted more out of our relationship and he could walk away at any time if it bothered him too much but he's exactly the same towards me as he was before. I have had best mate guy friends all my life. I know sleeping in the same bed sounds bad but it's no different to my girl best friends sleeping in the same bed except they are male. If you find that wrong then it says more about your experiences than mine.
