Then again, maybe music is getting stale and were all itching for something new to come out so we can all talk about how much we hate or like this "new" band. Either way, i dont see the lounge as a bad thing, it definetly takes away from the music portion of the site, but I have to agree with the way Urban explains it.
i completely agree...right now i'm waiting for something new to come my way...but stu has said that the music discussion has been weak lately and i disagree....he hasn't been here for a couple of days if not weeks ( at least not so i would notice=new suggestions ) and still new people came ( well in the indie forum , that's my main hanging place ) and suggested new bands i've never heard of...in my opinion the forum can never die because there is always one or two new people who know their shit....

in my opinion its weak. (must i ****ing state whatever i say is my opinion) i may not have been posting much lately but that doesnt mean i havent ben looking at whats happening. if i have nothing relevant to say i wont post anything- hence the fact i havent been on lately. you may well find it all interesting. doesnt mean i have to.

But I think the thing is nobody is saying this shouldn`t be a music forum.

All i`m saying is if you want to keep people here then have a bit more to offer when they don`t want to talk about music to keep them here.

Personally i`ve not been here much the past couple of months as i`ve been exploring sites about other interests I have, if I was able to post about them here more freely I would have also posted more in the music forums as well due to the fact that this IS a music forum and I would have been here more often than I have , you see what i`m getting at. If you want a wider range of topics & opinions in the music forums you have to keep people in the MusicBanter community when they go through phases of losing interest in music. That way with people staying & posting more, no matter what the subject. you`re more likey to keep people here.

^ i think what urban is suggesting is a good idea because we all go through periods where we lose interest in music etc... so if we can keep a few more valuable members im sure the forums will improve.... in terms of threads that die on their arse, ledzepstu, i think thats just because most of the bands you post about are unheard of and then people arent willing to make the effort of checking them out so noone posts....

my point precisely. people seem more interested in talking about miscellaneous topics then actually discovering new music on a MUSIC forum. and that doesnt detract away from the fact people spam needlessy in these threads. i think ive pretty much said enough on what i think.

ya, i know it happends way too much. Im sure we have all seen it happend where we end up having to wade through 20 posts of how so and sos blah blah blah before someone gets the thread back on track. Should us mods be stricter on this? what would everyone think if we suddenly became strict hardasses and started deleting every post that was off topic? I dont necessarily want to have to go that route but it is getting worst with all of the chit-chat between certain members in certain threads.

please do it. go as hardline as you need to go and let the miscellaneous chat stay in te lounge so people actually interested in talking about music can talk about it in peace!

yes, which is why the lounge exists- so they can talk away from the music forums. i think the mods should go through a protypical phase in which they adopt a more hardline attitude and just see how it goes- kind of a trial period.

your right pastor, but what this seems to be boiling down to is the "somewhere" to chat would be the lounge or the ever so popular mb chat room and not in one of the music threads. (unless it is music related to the thread in particular)

(im a little slow today, seems i was beaten to the punch again)
