Only with hiphop but I'd like to think I'm a lot less critical of other peoples taste in hiphop since I was 10 years ago. Still workin on it.

Same with metal. In high school if you couldn't at least name the Big Four of thrash then I didn't want to talk to you. Now I only hate deathcore kids. Although that's probably as much for the ear gauges as anything else.

I used to pride myself on being a music snob, but I've met so many people here and irl friend/musician circles that I'm humbled. There's always someone with cooler taste than me, and always someone I can learn from. In turn, I try to engage and suggest new things to people I know with less calculated tastes.

Not here, for obvious reasons.

IRL, I used to be flabbergasted when I asked someone what kind of music they enjoyed, and they didn't really know. Now, I realize that, just as I don't enthuse over visual art forms, some people don't enthuse over music.

I am a snob to people who like "everything" or stick to one genre. I am quite picky about what I listen to but I really don't have taste that is mind blowing.

I can enjoy just about anything in a background music sort of way. I certainly don't go out of my way to listen to everything and the number of artists in my music library is less than a hundred.

You and I know damn well that most people that say this do NOT listen to anything.

Huh?

I was just having lunch and they had the typical bull crap junk playing in the place and it was nice background music while I read and ate.

What I meant to say is that while you might actually listen to anything (but in the background), most people who say it really don't, that's why it's so annoying when people say it :c
