I always thought of Earth Hour as more of an awareness thing really, and kind of an example of what people can do if they work together. Just a very ineffective one. Like International Women's Day or Black History Month. At least it's only an hour. Some people just try to make too big of a deal out of it like with many things.

Well, global warming is a big deal, so arrangements related to it should be given attention. But I do think that this event shouldn't get hyped, because even though it's meant to raise awareness, what it does is make sofa activists think they're actually doing a good job by saving light for one hour, and thus setting the bar really low.

"Don't despair! We can save this doomed world by turning off the light for an hour! That'll help!"

Plus I can see Hannity making huge fun of it on his show for being so lame.
