Join the current discussions, esp in the jokes/current affairs subforums but in the end don't expect everyone to be on all the time: people have to sleep. And they get bored.

Try starting a new thread with a subject that hasn't been tried before: that will get some interest going. But be patient. Maybe try something controversial to draw people in (though not like Batty's one of mixing pedophilia and necrophilia ffs!) and get some conversation going. It's just slow at the moment, it won't be later on. The forum goes through periods like this; we're all only human.

Except me. ;)

I works late regularly so many times I do not get to chill until late.

understandably ;)

seriously, ive been here 4 yrs and im still not really friends with anybody nor do i particularly stand out but that's kinda the way i like it.

Like you, i used to care if i was liked around here but then i realised, i shouldn't care about my popularity in any social website because at best, it's just a pat on the back on my ego.

Anyway I appreciate the kindness all of you have shown me, especially now when you seen me struggling and crying the S.O.S. I am shocked so many of you cared enough to post in this thread out of good fellowship and showing care for your fellow man including the future of this forum. I hope all of your invested posts are a small deposit on the rewards you are going to reap from my participation. Look at my AV and then look at my name. I am one smooth criminal. How can you not like what you see? This is only the beginning of greater things to come hence my membership of Banter...I'm hoping.

btw I can share a few more smiles to the smiles page if there is interest. I feel like there are some more expressions that would be utilized if there were more options.

also is there a "my posts" or "my threads" options to quickly refer to previous posts, threads and participation?

Click on your username on the left; you'll see the options to "find more posts by this user" and "find threads started by this user". You can also find those options on the statistics section of your profile.

Hey, same here.

No.

ChelseaDagger 07-13-2015 09:30 AM

I havent read all the responses so i hope dont repeat anything thats already been said...

Have you ever read "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr Seuss? you sound a lot like the character who refuses to give new music a try, either "on a train or in the rain, in a house or with a mouse...."

I had your back on your introductory thread, so i wont repeat myself, but the whole premise of THIS thread, whether half-joking or not, comes off as very closeminded. Yes, vintage rock is (generally speaking) a great genre IMO (and at the very least a pioneering part of music evolution/history), but you might be surprised at how much of a vintage twist some of the newer stuff has... If you made a thread requesting recommendations for songs meeting that criterion, you'd probably get some interesting and mind-opening replies to temper all the smartass ones.

Just sayin

thank you for your feedback. Please check out a thread I made titled "* covers *" It is so good and I would love for you to participate in it. It's located in the "General Music" subtopic forum.

I'm trying to be open minded but when I hear music that hurts my ears it's hard to continue. It's like someone taking a knife and pushing it against your skin just enough to irritate without penetrating. I do give new music a chance but I'm quick to hit the stop button if I do not like it. I did compliment a member here for posting a song that I could tolerate but that was it.

Thank you for the great ideas. I will entertain them soon. :)

Matter of interest, when you say "new music" do you mean created after a certain date, or just new to you? And what genres/subgenres do you/would you consider not worth listening to? TBH you sound a lot like me when I arrived here over four years ago, but I've been encouraged to evolve just a little. Opening your mind to music you haven't heard before can be challenging, even scary: some you may hate, some you may shrug and say meh, but I think it's worth it for the few bands or artistes you end up finding out about and liking, which you would not have before.

I like your nuanced humor, although it might take a bit of perception to figure out when you are or aren't being glib. I think at this point, I'm not sure if I'm supposed be upset that you called me a peep or a gentlemen, which might just be a matter of perspective depending on who you ask about me.

Whenever we finally get him into plug, we should play Office Space. And yes, it's on Youtube.

Frownland 07-13-2015 03:04 PM

I want to send him a rare Genesis live concert video file that plays Office Space instead.

I offered to send TH some of my Genesis concerts I had on CD and he said "no." The Office Space Trojan Horse sound good in theory but he probably won't fall for it.

Frownland 07-13-2015 04:15 PM

Well I'm sure a Yanni Trojan horse would work just as well.

All these years and plug was a cult!? Gee I must have guzzling the Kool Aid pretty hard not to realize it. Now I've been away for a week or so I have to admit yeah you have something there...

Too bad for TH, it was such a laid back part of MusicBanter - with very few exceptions. But still who knows he might had enjoyed himself spinning his favorite diddies. He would also feel the warmth and love of his fellow co-musicbanterers chatting and listeing to tunes. People enjoying or not enjoying what he played. Spending too much time in it, falling behind in his journal writings, loosing precious hours of sleep... all good stuff. His loss. :(

Why? It's one of the best ways to find new music and share interests with the members here. I prefer it over talking about music here tbh.

Ninetales 07-13-2015 06:34 PM

im not a giant fan of plug either. just prefer to listen to albums than individual songs.

The Batlord 07-13-2015 06:36 PM

I have fun when I'm on there, but for the most part I'm just waiting for my turn and shooting the ****. I almost never care enough about what someone else plays to seek that music out on my own.

I don't have to explain it. I have no interest in it. End of.
From now on, Plug DJ is on the same personal ignore list as Office Space is. Talk all you like about either to me, I will completely ignore any reference to them. I've asked you to let it go, to leave me alone about these two subjects but you delight in annoying me so you can all suck it. If you refuse to get the message, I'll ignore you.

Not your post, nor you yourself, just any reference to either. I'm done with both, have been for a long time. I'm 52 years old and I do not have to explain these decisions to anyone, nor justify them.

You can play whole in plug albums too. You could make playlists of albums play them one after the other. It can be a place to meet up with people to play individual songs or you can create your own room and have it invite only

Office Space is awesome and Trollheart is really missing out. He'll never know true comedy.

Ignoring something you'd probably love to spite those who pressured you since they knew you'd love it. Classic TH logic.
