I'm enjoying it as well. I honestly thought a thread like this would have died days ago due to disinterest. But I see that there are a lot of people here that are interested in this sort of thought. The main reason I find this type of topic interesting is because people can have a conversation about it even though everybody involved knows that there's like a .0000001% chance that something like this could be possible.

Ya, it's all just like, opinions man.

Not a single person in this thread can back up with certainty anything they are saying.

It's a bull**** fest for cripes sake. If that's not what you want I'll bow out gracefully.

Too late for that...

I wouldn't say you have to back out, but unless you have something to contribute to the discussion it'd be best to stop hauling it off topic. Nothing is going to be resolved anyway and in fairness it's not just you, Batty and Frown are also continuing this pointless argument. Best to just let it lie and get back to the topic, I feel.

I wonder if there's a universe where I love Beefheart and Frown is a Genesis fan?

Sorry about logicgate, I figured everyone wanted people to back up their thoughts without using fallacies. If anything getting Chula to understand that it's okay to use theoretical talk without just shouting BULL****! would have been nice too. Oh well.

As far as the op goes, I doubt that you would cease to exist if you wiped your grandfather from existence. You have already been created and that's a permanent fixture. However, if you went back to your present, you would not exist in that place because it's a new timeline where neither you nor your grandfather existed. Since you've removed yourself from the effects of that timeline you would remain unscathed. That's my understanding of it anyway.

We're just circle jerking at the end of the day.

What does having control of your thoughts have to do with anything?

Without my hypothetical infinitive universe experiment, that is an unprovable assertion. Every situation is different, so you can't apply past results to future ones. Just because some guy punched you in the face once and you kicked his ass, doesn't mean that you actually responded differently when you restrained yourself another time.

Maybe the second guy was bigger than you, maybe you were sober, maybe you were just older and not a dumbass, or any number of other reasons that could explain why you would react differently in two situations that were really only superficially alike.
I just said that because of all the examples that TH gave the alternative decisions seems like the most reasonable. We know enough about the other things like the bridge collapsing and stuff for it to be reasonable that if it collapses in one world that it will collapse in another world. With the brain though we don't understand enough about how it works to claim it's unreasonable that given the same instance in multiple parallel universes it couldn't sporadically have different thoughts.

The reason I mentioned not having control over our brain is because if we had full control that would eliminate the possibility of the previously mentioned sporadic thoughts.

As for your last paragraphs you can use a better example like eating the same foods or your morning coffee. Every time you take a sip of coffee from the same cup, same brew it's different. Sure it tastes the same but it's a different experience.

Yeah, and it's annoying. Which i've expressed in this thread already. If you guys can't follow the direction of this thread, i'll ask for it to be locked so the circle jerking will stop. I don't want to do that as this is one of my favorite threads.

The OP was interesting for about a page, which is why almost nobody talked about it. Without our circle jerking, you're right, this thread would've died. But our circle jerk was far more interesting than yours.

Then do it in PM, not in my thread.

Glad you're not acting like a baby or anything.
