And what does a fertilised but unattached egg mean? That it would be flushed out during the next period? I've never heard about that specific thing before.

You hit it right on the money. it was flushed out with my last period. But I still became somewhat ill.

and I do use contraception. most of the time. I've just been a tad neglectful lately.

right now my friend is in denial about being pregnant. has told her mom. but not her dad. has not told her boyfriend. and my friend doesn't care if i tell you guys

Well, that's pretty neglectful of a guy if your neglect become a factor, if you catch my drift.

we got caught up in the heat of the moment. . . a few times that day.

and it's not like if I were to get pregnant anyway, it would be the end of the world. There are options. Some of which oojay might not be overjoyed about.
And even if i decided to keep the baby, I'm pretty sure I could take care of it. Financially at least.

Well, I think that first excuse is pretty bull****. Condoms used to be the big hassle that people still claim they are, but with Durex's easy on design which the other manufacturers have latched onto as well it takes all of 15 seconds to pop one on and if you're really that randy its not like the urge is going to disappear in such a short period of time. There's even some new condom from South Africa which takes about 3 seconds to put on (seriously, if you can watch an advert for these they're pretty amazing).

But yes, abortion is an option and it's a very common one which I personally have very little problem with on a moral/ethical level. SO many women have had abortions, if you check the stastics it works out as a very large proportion of the female population in the UK, I think it's smaller in the US but still a LOT of women. If the pregnancy is noticed early its just a case of taking a pill and nothing more than that.

Or yes, you could keep the baby. You chav!!!!

If its at a very early stage, how is it any more murder than using contraception in the first place?

Youre thinking of the "Morning after" pill I assume. Thats not the same as an abortion. contraception keeps the sperm form fertilizing the egg. if the egg is fertilized, it will become a baby. thats how its different.

No. I'm thinking of the pill that they use to give abortions within the first few months of a prenancy. The morning after pill is used 48 hours after unprotected intercourse or something like that. They were using the abortion pill three years ago (according to official abortion advice websites), whether they are still using or not I admittedly don't know.

If I use condoms I'll use durex. But I usually take the pill.
and well. for a few days (in a row) I just forgot.

So yeah. . . . .

and right now, I'm just taking some hormonal that helps with the nausea.

I had a fertilized egg. it just didn't attach and so didn't amount to anything except a small lump that came out with the rest of the other . . . things that were passed through my body during my menstrual cycle.

If you use contraception you're stopping the eggs and sperm from meeting and becoming a child. If you abort a fertilized egg you are stopping the fertilized egg from becoming a child. I'm still not sure how I can see them as ethically that different.

you can say that all you want, but let me know when you trade your penis in for a vagina and have to give birth.

do you know how many women can't bare the pain of child birth or have you not heard of women that have died during labor?

Mama Booze 01-07-2007 07:52 PM

^ Or how many minors get raped and end up pregnant?
Not just minors. Women in general really.

correct. thats not murder. its keeping them from ever getting fertilized. BIG difference.

DontRunMeOver 01-07-2007 07:57 PM

Does anybody else agree then, that the most ethical thing to do would be for all males to have vasectomies at the ages of... ooh, lets say 10... and those vasectomies can only be reversed when they get married and agree with their wife that they should have a child. I think that would be a thoroughly righteous solution.

yeah but there are some rape victims that still opt to have a child.

and to clear a few things up, I know that if I were to get pregnant at this stage in my life I would more than likely not have an abortion.

no. because then people would not use any contraception and then the rate of STD infections would sky rocket.

DontRunMeOver 01-07-2007 07:59 PM

Who says people don't also use condoms to prevent them from getting STDs? And plus, if so many people only use the pill since when did that prevent them from getting STDs?

[MERIT] 01-07-2007 08:00 PM

Can we all just agree to disagree on abortion? I dont feeling like piloting through another political sh*t storm tonight.

damn now I feel sick again.

night folks.

DontRunMeOver 01-07-2007 08:00 PM

I think the vasectomy idea is a winner. Oojay, you might want to suggest it as a vote winner for the 'pubs.

I don't think doctors would say 'trust' was one of the best antiviral or antibacterial agents available. Plus, even if you trust somebody to think they are clean, how can you really trust that they know their own body that well?

Only that one protects from STD'S and STI's, the other does not.

I didn't do any of that....I sort of hit on their girlfriends by accident.

Kurt_Cobain 01-08-2007 04:27 PM

That was the implication Oojay. And all this sh!t about abortion is wrong, yeah I disagree with it. But if a girl gets raped and is pregnant, then ya I think abortion is acceptable, its the only time in my view.
