Nope. I would sit the exam on Monday but if I go for this interview instead I might even be starting the job on Monday. Its a no brainer, im going to the interview but I should have known that when I finally got a call like this, it would be THIS bloody week!

What exactly does the course offer?

Is there no way of explaining to your prospective employer about the training you're doing for the SIA badge? Could you not postpone the interview?

If not, I'd say it isn't worth the risk (although this is a tough call) - especially if the position is only possibly a temporary one. Last summer I worked at festivals in Scotland and England for a security company, and the guys with the SIA badges get a lot of work at these festivals, and also all year round at clubs/casinos etc in Glasgow where I'm from. I'd imagine you could find work a lot easier if you complete the training man. If I was you I'd sack the interview and just go for the SIA badge, especially if you're living in a big city where there would be lots of potential work.

An SIA badge, Kayleigh, is basically just a qualification needed to work in the security industry. The security at the airport will all have one, bouncers will have them, most stewards you see at gigs and festivals will have one. They should all display them on their sleeve really but they often don't.

Well I did weigh up the possible advantages of getting my badge instead, as once i get it i don't believe it is reviewed or has to be renewed for 10 years maybe. And it isnt costing me a penny. But then again, im only doing it because of this and because the guy putting me and the rest of this group through this course does event cover ie gigs, festivals, football etc and this could be a few quid in my pocket while i look for a real job. However its not a fixed wage, i cant possibly know what work ill get out of it and how frequently and even though i could apply for the kind of jobs i mentioned above once i have it, i really do not want to work the doors or anything so i dont see myself using it for anything else. This job i have an interview for IS a real job. Its not the best paid job in the world but its close to home, its stable, the hours are great and so is a much better job for me to have right now while still keeping an eye on vacancies elsewhere.

Its a risk but i dont think event cover work is much to throw away, its just a shame that this bloody interview couldnt be next week, once i have completed the course and got my badge.

EDIT: Oh and no, i cant postpone it. I didnt apply for this job, the employer has obviously hired the services of a recruitment agency to find them suitable applicants from online CV's. Its only customer service after all, it isnt rocket science. So i dont have to go, i can tell them i dont want to and they just move on and find someone else.

A friend is visiting me at the moment, and he went sightseeing while I was at work today. I looked through his photos and was reminded how fucking cool this city is! We've got two fortresses! two! like actual stone castle looking fortresses, right in the city. And a million other insanely important historical buildings. My city kicks ass.

Last day in denmark.
Friend and I got two bottles of $50 champagne to celebrate one last night the 16 drinking age. Gonne miss it once we return to America. If I had a dollar for every bottle of liqour we drank... Well I could buy more liqour.
Anyways returning to america in 6 hours. Its gonna be a long flight.
Hope they play something good on the airplane.

Back from the arctic, straight down to summer in the south! I got a gig with the old band this evening and we've mostly played concerts during summer the last couple of years and I haven't had much time to freshen up the old tunes. I'm sure it'll be fine, though. Really looking forward to it :D
