Same here pretty much man, I couldn't eat for a week. Mine had burst and done some nasty damage, they did an exploratory laparotomy and a hemicolectomy.

I looked like a junkie at the end of it, needle marks all up my arm. Tbh that was mostly cos the nurse was an incompetent ****ing idiot who couldnt put it in an IV if my life depended on it.

it was the daily blood test I despised - the doctors didn't know how to extract it properly - in the end, I just refused to let them take any more

Ugh, yeah. Even though I have iron deficiency anemia, I sold my blood plasma for a good year, twice a week. Naturally, I didn't tell them that. I would pop iron pills, finally figured out how long before donating to take the iron so that my iron levels would be high enough to allow me to donate, and then be sick the entire rest of the day.

Once, I donated right before a performance of Footloose and ended up fainting backstage.

I knew it was bad, but I was really hard-pressed for money. Everything I was getting was going to rent, electricity, food, and paying my mom back for her initial deposit so I could get the apartment. I had to sell my plasma to make enough money to buy cigarettes.

And that needle is HUGE. It looks kind of like a writing quill, and is basically a metal tube with a pointy tip so it can go into your arm.

Well, amongst other things. The plasma money was also used for cab fare, so I wouldn't have to be a female walking through a really sketchy downtown area when I got off of work at 11:30pm or midnight. Walking 15 blocks was good exercise, but I really didn't want to get mugged or raped...which wasn't exactly unheard of. It was pretty common.
