Job hunting is a humbling experience for sure.

The worst job in the world is looking for a job. The pay sucks too. They should at least give you a Franky for showing up.

Frownland 06-26-2019 04:42 PM

This. That's why I do it. Regardless of if it's good or bad, I still enjoy the process of making it.

TeruTeruBozuBoy 06-26-2019 10:14 PM

Had a very lazy day today. Tomorrow I gotta pick it back up and actually go outside at least. Gonna go on a walk down to the market. Stayed in all day practicing guitar, singing and playing Minecraft with a friend. Tomorrow I wanna try getting something recorded at least.

Wtf kind of question is that?

I hate job interview questions and I'm glad I don't have to deal with that **** again for at least awhile. Good luck on the job hunt.

Someone once told me that, back in the 60's, no band could clear a floor faster than the Velvet Underground.

I think you mean he means Luigi Russolo.

EDIT: Who beat Stravvy boy by 4 years (even if Stravinksi is way more listenable).

John Cale: I Wouldn't Be Making Music if It Wasn't for Luigi Russolo

Not just getting people to politely leave a room either, these mfs incited literal riots.

Frownland 06-28-2019 04:09 PM

From my main gig, ja.

OccultHawk 06-28-2019 08:09 PM

I just listened to the new Thom Yorke album Anima

The reviews were like it’s this serious reconstruction of the musical process and really boundary pushing and all this but really you know

It’s not all that

It’s just rehashing Radiohead stuff

There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s his to rehash but you know the critics piss me off sometimes

TeruTeruBozuBoy 06-28-2019 10:47 PM

Today was mostly spent playing guitar, singing, hiking through the forest, walking around town, drinking coffee/tea, took a nap and watched a movie for a bit.

It was only in the past few years that I started to understand the Radiohead appeal. Still like them now so I'm giving this a listen now and I like it. Like you said it doesnt push any boundaries but it's not bad.

OccultHawk 06-29-2019 09:25 AM

What’s your favorite Radiohead record?

Key 06-29-2019 09:26 AM

A Moon Shaped Pool. I know. Not a popular choice.

I like it, too. Here’s a review I posted on Lamp Lighter

A Moon Shaped Pool
Studio album by Radiohead

Only the most curmudgeonly music fan could dislike Radiohead. They’re one of the most consistently high quality bands of all time. Pool is their third best offering: behind only Kid A and The King of Limbs. Reminds me of Beck’s Sea Change obscured. Delightfully blurred in a way that Radiohead has cornered. If you think you don’t like this open your heart and try again. It’s beautiful.

Key 06-29-2019 10:02 AM

^hell yeah!

OccultHawk 06-29-2019 10:17 AM

Key

Ive been thinking about how to deal with artists who make several releases in a single year. In the past if an artist is overly prolific I would chose one record, often almost arbitrarily, and leave it at that. Now I’m thinking of a new approach where I’ll take all of the artist’s work collectively for a given year and just judge as a singular work of art. I know it’s not ideal but there’s limited mental space for so much compartmentalization. What do you think of me looking at your entire 2019 output as a single work of art?

Key 06-29-2019 10:21 AM

I'm all for it! I'd be interested to see what you think them? I've listened to them collectively from oldest to newest before and its quite interesting for me personally so itd be interesting to see a different perspective. I probably dont have anything new coming for a while so what's there is there for a pretty good while. Unless i get super inspired which has happened.

Anteater 06-29-2019 12:54 PM

Pretty sure Pablo Honey is the only good Radiohead album. Its like catchin' some gnarly grunge-flavored waves.
