One thing that's had me wondering...would the Western powers be better off with Putin in power or someone else? Part of me thinks if he remains in power, the sanctions will remain and their military will be handicapped for the rest of his tenure, limiting any ambitions of future adventures like this. If he is ousted, the short-term might be better, but the sanctions will probably lifted sooner too - if the new leader has the appearance of being Western-friendly but then turns out to be a snake with the same nationalist sympathies as Putin, we might end up in the same situation. I'm undecided.

The real answer is yeahi think i made a post or two in that thread.

At the end of the day though if ukraine went to nato that would potentially bankrupt Russia through the necessary increase in military spending to shore up that border.

I think it only takes one NATO member to dissent on a prospective new member's admittance into NATO to stop it from happening - France and Germany refusing Ukraine's NATO membership in recent years - still a lot of political corruption going on in Ukraine. Can Zelensky change that? Maybe.

As you say, not only is Ukraine a key geopolitical bulwark against NATO from Russia's perspective (along with CSTO member Belarus), but it's also how much of Russian gas gets to Europe - and Russia is basically a petrostate.

That would've been less true with nordstream i think but yeah... They have multiple reasons. The naval base in crimea was one of the main reasons they annexed that area in 2014, and technically any kinda territory dispute like that makes it so that Ukraine can't join nato until that is resolved. But in the meantime Ukraine was only going to get stronger, better armed and harder to invade the longer they waited.

I log on from time to time but i haven't been posting as much. No real reason just haven't had much to say.

Today my tire blew out while i was on my way to the gas station on break. My supervisor came to help me since i said i didn't have a jack but i had a donut. My coworker was drinking a beer and i was smoking out of my bowl and we weren't even worried cause the supervisor is some 23 year old stoner. And we took like an hour and a half instead of a half hour cause of the tire. Now I'm about to hit em with i need to leave early after last break since i wanna get that new tire put on tonight.

Today i took my coworker home and he needed me to bring him to stop and get his gfs purse that she drunkenly forgot the night before at her mom's house. She was literally on the phone bitching him out while we were on the way. His bitch seems bipolar in an unbearable way.

When we got to her mom's house they gave him the purse and some wrapped slices of processed cheese lol. Then we went to stop at some hood corner store nearby.. He goes in to get some blacks and as soon as he is inside this real skinny crackhead looking dude comes out and immediately is like "man I'm out here in these streets can i get 25 cents 50 cents etc."

I don't generally as a rule give alms to the homeless but sometimes i feel the spirit and look into my heart to give. I look in the tray and there's some coins. I pulled out 2 quarters and was like here is 50 cents. He looked at the tray and was like can i have the rest of the coins. It was a bunch of pennies bro and maybe 3 dimes.

i looked at the tray and was like ****, but i agreed and painstakingly picked up each coin one by one. While i was doing this he noticed i had a bottle cap from a Gatorade bottle sitting on my passenger seat and he picked it up and was like "let me get rid of this for you" and threw it away. Like this was some kind of service.

Then my friend came out of the store and talked to the dude a bit. I heard him say i love you bro etc as he was getting in the car and was guessing he knew the dude. Then as we were pulling off he told me it was his brother.

Thank you, only person I’m acknowledging. It wouldn’t be a teaching position, but rather my title would be Youth Counselor. It would require overnights at the school 3-4 nights per week. Tbh I applied and accepted the interview before I realized that The [Surname] School for Boys is actually The Archbishop [Surname] Institute’s Residential Youth Treatment Center and High School for Boys.

My mom told me she had a nun when she was a kid that used to make kids sit underneath her desk if they were bad. The teacher would be sitting at the desk and everything. She called it the dog house.
