I think you'd agree that this might be a little problematic, especially in a popular thread where a lot of other users are participating.

I guess, but why can't we delete every other of our posts?

I guess it's not possible to program it that way with the software architecture this forum has. Either all one's posts can be deleted or none can.

Why not just cut the option to not delete the thread in general instead of all posts? Plus, posts couldn't get deleted if they were replied too, right?

Not true. It's fairly easy to make it so intro posts can't be deleted, and only ones own posts can be. Plus, if an intro post were deleted, it would just put the next post in line as the intro post, it wouldn't delete the thread altogether. That, and usually, people can't delete the intro post of a thread unless a mod did it, so taking it away is pointless.

Back on my first forum, no post could get deleted if it was replied too. Only if it was the last post on the forum. I thought that was how it worked here.

vBulletin also has the function to allow a certain time period to go by before the post can't be deleted. It would be allowed to be edited for about 30 minutes, than the option would be taken away.

I have no insight into the site's programing. Those were the stated reasons.
If someone wants to remove one's post, it basically still can be done by editing it.
Just write an ellipsis there instead or something.
I'd say the change does in no way inconvenience users.

It just seems like unnecceseary posts that take up more room and data. If you can get a system in which users can delete their posts as long as they are the latest in the forum but keep deleting started threads a restricition, that might work.

So I guess I like Green Day again. Weird feeling after lambasting them all these years.

Definitely the product of me having a feud with their #1 fan, who I was in my first band with. That was some story. I'll tell it whenever I'm feling lazy.

Finally got rid of my iPhone today and switched to a Samsung S7. Loving it so far, but the best part is that I can finally stop relying on iTunes.
