I think if you can explain why they are an idiot as well as tie it into why it pertains to the argument at hand then it isn't an ad hominem.

Most American rural areas are seeing a rise in heroin/opiate use.

I guess it's too late for Trump to run on a platform of a dopeman on every corner.

Welp, I spent all day reading the annotated lyrics for To Pimp a Butterfly on Rap Genius. I feel like a new person, really.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

I spent all day reading 4Chan posts. I feel subhuman.

From Rap Genius? I have to do that with a lot of Lupe Fiasco songs.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Yeah I listened to the album and cross referenced all the different opinions on the lyrics. I loved the album before, but damn I have a new appreciation for it now that I understand the underlying story. Makes you wonder why goddamn prog musicians never explain the lyrics that they so meticulously crafted.

I know a lot of artists that won't explain them like to keep them vague so people can pull their own meanings from them despite the initial meaning.

I prefer this. It's why I like Tool's, Slipknot's, and Nirvana's lyrics. I prefer something that's beautifully worded and leaves ambiguity to find your own meaning. I try to do the same with my lyrics.

Yeah, I definitely understand and agree with that, but with like, concept albums, if they don't tell you what the concept is and how it develops, it's entire meaning is lost among the cryptic lyrics that prog groups make.
