Completely fed up with this sciatic flair up. It takes me minutes just to get up out of my recliner and be able to stand up straight and walk. Take one of your fingers and bend it backwards to the point you can't take the pain and then imagine that sensation running down your entire leg.

Sucks getting old don't it? My trips to the ground are taking a lot longer to get back from these days. Oh me back!

Sounds like you need a shot in the ass and some light stretching.

I've had it since my late teens so age is not the factor. And ya, DWV, once better I really need to work on my core.

The sciatic nerve is the largest single nerve in the human body; it runs from each side of the lower spine through deep in the buttock into the back of the thigh and all the way down to the foot. It serves a vital role in connecting the spinal cord with the leg and foot muscles.
Gotta stretch yo ass, thighs, and lower back to relieve the inflation pinching the nerve. Start with cat/camel stretches, which are very safe if youre mobile enough to get on your hands and knees.

Speaking from vast experience gotta disagree. My past PT docs would too. It has nothing to do with the pain but has everything to do with avoiding a flare up. If my core is strong I'm a ton less likely to pinch the nerve in the first place.

Yeh, I deleted that part cause it was misleading. Core does consider the lower back, but I was thinking abs. The point was just saying doing situps, and ab work isn't going to help as much as stretching and developing muscle/flexibility in the areas where the nerve actually exists. I was pre-PT, before changing my major to envl science. Not that I'm an authority on the area, just sayin.

I don't really see how you're going to avoid flare ups working a somewhat unrelated area, unless you are doing strenuous activity and activating muscles for support you really shouldn't need. Since you don't have a physical job that seemed unlikely.

Edit: Not saying you/they are wrong. Just basing it on my limited knowledge. Do whatever they say.
