Here we pay for fuel after filling up. As for toilets flushing I always close the lid before I flush so I don't see it (a few years back I read a study that measured the amount of fecal bacteria on everything in the room if you flush without the lid closed)

The whole "toilets flushing clockwise/counter-clockwise" is a myth anyway. The deciding factor is the design of the toilet, not the Coriolis effect.
