Come to Ireland. You want rain? We got rain? On one occasion there was a nationwide scare when this crazy bright yellow ball was seen in the sky. People panicked, thought it was the end of the world!

So I'd really appreciate it if you didn't try to project your own self loathing on me and perhaps work on loving yourself instead.

Right. I see. Well, if you're going to do that, surely sell it to Fox or someone and get paid for it? You can always leave it in your will. Preferably, to me.

I never said I was going to. If I ever wanted to be dead I’d be dead.

.

I agree don't do it, I think people need to feel like they are able to say 'I'm seriously considering it, and I'm at this point in terms of going through with it' without being judged or as if they're going to be locked up. Frown and Hawk have both been making good posts I agree with btw. And **** anyone who says it's selfish seriously.

But especially consider the risk of a failed attempt, especially with that method. You could make your problems much worse if you're sectioned and your family find out, as well as permanent damage from most other methods. Then you will dream of the day you only sat with a knife to your wrist and wondered whether you should do it.

If you feel close again go to A&E (ER for you guys?) or phone a helpline immediately and focus on the next five minutes, and then the next five minutes, and get through those.

It's a forum so probably most people do.

Why are you so quick to recommend drugs? They should be a real last resort imo, when trying to make self improvements everywhere else hasn't worked.

Talk to your doctor of course though.

I mean that sounds like sound advice, but when you're at the point of being so depressed that you're finally willing to see a medical professional then I doubt that you'd have the motivation to make any use of non-medicinal intervention. Pills might not be a miracle cure but they can be the catalyst for a paradigm shift that you're not going to get by just sitting around and waiting for your paradigm to magically shift all by itself (which in general is the go-to solution for the long-term depressed).

I am not against medication, some people do require it, I am just asking why that was the first thing he recommended.

For example if you are self medicating with drugs or alcohol then nipping that in the bud first should be the first thing you do, especially alcohol ffs. Doing that will help. Sobriety helps, talking helps, hugs and support from your friends help. Volunteering helps and getting outside helps.

Pills
Meds have saved me from so much anguish.

All I say is spend a day in my head before I started my meds and a day after.

Of course we never really know what others are experiencing internally but my brain got stuck in some loops that I’m pretty damn sure would shock and scare the **** out of most people who get judgy about pills

Not talking about you, mlm

I didn't mean you. I was using the word "you" in its broadest sense. I could have written "if one is going to do it", but I'm not that posh.

I think he just mentioned/recommended it because it worked for him.
