Shaved my back today...which was kind of cool cause I couldn't quite reach all of the spots. So I had to duck tape the razor to a long plastic spatula to be able to shave all of those hard to reach places. Twas rather proud of meself.

Man, if I had to go to all that effort to shave my back, my back would remain unshaven!

I was riding home on the trolley last night when I noticed that all of the ads on it were Canadian. I don't mean they were travel ads, I mean they were local Ontario ads you would expect to see on a trolley in Toronto. And there weren't just one or two, I'm talking about every ad in the trolley, probably 10 to 12 ads. It's was really fucking weird. I felt like I was in a Twilight Zone episode or something.

That's hilarious. And you're not even on the border! Sometimes we see ads promoting tourism in New York, Michigan, or Minnesota, but you'd expect that.

Like ads for stores and stuff? Strange, lol. We mostly see ads for movies.

Trolleys are like streetcars right? Super dumb question, I know.

Just... random stuff. The first one that caught my eye was a credit card ad with the words "NEW TO CANADA?" written on it in big letters. Then I noticed the ad next to it was for a talk radio show on some Toronto station I had never heard of. Then I realized the one directly above me was some kind of Ontario drug abuse program. When I got off, I looked at the contact info on the rest and all of them were 416 phone numbers and/or URLs ending in ".ca". I can't even begin to imagine how they all ended up there. I'm glad my wife was with me as a witness because it was really strange.

Strange indeed! Yeah, the talk radio stations were probably the AM ones... like 1010 or 680 or some boring sh*t like that that only old people listen to, lol. That's all so weird... where the hell did they get those ads... lol.

Okay yep. Same thing. If you said "trolley" here you'd have a lot of confused looks coming your way! We call them streetcars, and that looks like an old one! But they are the same - rails, electric, etc.

This is what ours look like.

http://www.rcinet.ca/english/illustr..._STREETCAR.jpg

I used to ride that one a lot into the city actually, the 501 :). It would be funny if I got on the streetcar tomorrow or something and saw ads for places in Philly, wouldn't it?

I don't know if they wrong batch of ads got sent to the wrong place or what. Maybe it was a prank.

I don't think they're as old as they look. I'm pretty sure they're fairly modern trolleys just made with a retro look. I love that about them though.

Heh. That would really make it like a Twilight Zone episode.

I saw American Psycho for the first time last night while I was smoking, It was INTENSE!

FETCHER. 01-14-2013 11:20 AM

A trolley here is a like a shopping cart over there? I was so confused. You all use weird words for stuff haha, we call those big things Trams. Currently Edinburgh is spending a ****ing fortune on bringing Trams back into the city (around 776 million) to bring more tourism in, cut on city emissions and the usual. So if you are in ever in Scotland during 2014 visit Edinburgh because we have some of the most advanced Trams in Europe. That we didn't really need.

Key 01-14-2013 11:22 AM

Continuing the job search as usual. I've been calling places like crazy, but still to no avail. I'm hoping something happens this week.

FETCHER. 01-14-2013 11:28 AM

Oh! Yesterday, I got made do an official RLSS (royal life saving society, yes I am part of this club *smug*) lifeguard exam because they have brought in a new book so it was to see how 'competent' I was with the new edition of the book. I failed the exam and they told me I would need to work on those parts and I wouldn't be able to work until I went to more training to get signed off. They basically do this so I never miss training because missing it will make my life 'harder'.

I went to training today and got shifts. Suck my dick, *******s.

Btw I failed straight away because I didn't have a whistle, which wasn't needed in the old edition of the book. Wankers.

We use the word tram as well but it has slightly different connotation. I think of a tram more as something that's similar to a trolley, but doesn't travel on the road. Like something you find at an airport or tourist attraction.

I saw those before on ThinkGeek's website. So they're not just on Amazon! But I think they are the same price.

I've never tried bacon in my life, actually. My mom has always stuck to the Jewish thing of not eating pork, and now I just don't have the urge to try any of that stuff.

LoathsomePete 01-15-2013 03:09 PM

I've had a productive day on top of work. Signed my rental agreement and lease, paid my deposit and first month's rent, got electricity internet and waste taken care of, so now it's just getting my mailbox key and renter's insurance set up. Going to be poor for February, but this arrangement is going to be WAY better than my current one where I'm afraid the house is going to burn down.

It is for here I think. Rarely does it drop below freezing, English summer = mild, rainy and grey. English winter = colder, but still rainy and grey.

Just got home from hot yoga. I was approached by my high school graphic arts teacher after class. Apparently she goes to the same hot yoga studio I do.

This really is a small world.
