Captain America always seemed in the comics (at least to me) like an avatar of some unachievable ideal. The idea of an America that works for everyone I guess.

The MCU interpretation attempts to work along those lines, but I think Chris Evans is pretty insufferable as an actor so I feel like he doesn't really carry the spirit of the character that well.
