ok but since all the matter in our brains was once not a part of any sort of biological life as we understand biological life to be shouldn’t we refrain from ruling out that all matter has some form of awareness or consciousness even if it’s so distant from ours as to be totally unrecognizable

I’m not saying I believe that and the burden of proof would certainly be on someone who does but since we’re nowhere near cracking the hard problem of cosciousness I’m not sure if panpsychism should be taken completely off the table.

What the hell is the difference between living life as if you of have free will and living life as if you don't have free will?

You're going to live life all the same regardless. What, are you going to make excuses not to try if you live as if you don't have a real choice? As if that isn't already a thing with the default belief? "Accepting that you're just an automaton is soul death." I remember that irrational quote. So you don't believe in free will because it's 'magic' but you believe in souls? Nah, living as if you have no real choice is literally no different because you're going to always react in a way that you think is best for your own self interest. The only way it makes a difference is if you latch on to the concept because it makes you feel better. Which explains why you think I believe it exists to make me feel better since projection is a corner stone of your weak ass arguments. I assure you, my happiness isn't dependent on whether or not I have a choice and lack of choice can easily be spun into just as self important of a belief as you think free will is.

That's the annoying irrationality of how you process the information. It doesn't ****ing matter. You're going to act how you act and do as you do regardless of if you think it's really your choice or just a mathematical inevitability.

Obviously, everybody, including myself, is going to assume pool balls lack sentience, consciousness, awareness - whatever word you want to go with

but it’s so ****ing weird that consciousness exists in any form

it also occurs to me that maybe the answer is that consciousness doesn’t exist and that circles back around to being almost the same as all matter having consciousness

it’s a hard problem (so they say)
