You enjoy being a grovelling servant?

You're selling yourself and pretending you like it, whore. I know middle class white folk are programmed to think of servitude as "opportunity" or "self-fulfillment" or what the **** ever but that culture is very much like some CEO has their hands up your parents' assholes giving you sock puppet corporate indoctrination from the day you're born.

Bro he'd totally be a corporate downsizer who walks in smiling before figuring out how to not give half the employees severance packages.

There’s nothing corporate about my job, it’s all small businesses with like 5 employees. Generally happy, pleasant people. And “servitude” lol you’ve clearly never felt what it’s like to walk in somewhere and you are basically treated like the almighty savior that will fix everything and make it all better. Not because I did anything special, but just because I was friendly and confident while helping them. It genuinely is fulfilling as ****. Your pessimism is crazy man, not everything in the world is as bleak and miserable as you think

Get a face tattoo and smelly dreads and see if you're treated like a white guy with a sensible haircut. Also try speaking to them the way you'd speak to people who aren't clients and see if they still like you (ignore if being middle class has erased your ability to be anything but "business casual" at all times). Their good will is dependent on you acting like a proper servant. Not making it as explicit as bowing and saying "Your Majesty" doesn't do anything but hide the servitude in plain sight.

Having a face tattoo and dreads leads to discrimination, which sucks. I get that

Having a “work persona” and making shallow, friendly connections with people is enjoyable to me. I don’t want to be doing it all the time but for ~15 hours a week it’s nice.

I guess by the most basic of definitions you can call it servitude but that has darker implications than I would ascribe to my job

Yeah like I said middle class culture raises people to be like this. You can't just be satisfied with yourself, you have to be satisfied with at least your parents' quality of life and that means being someone who is as inoffensive as possible and who can put on a suit or business casual attire and project as little personality as possible so employers and clients won't have anything but the things they want from you projected onto them. It's basically an attempt to erase you and leave only the desired cog. If you like that then you do you but I do not want that lifestyle and reject it with extreme prejudice.

So then what does your current job do for you from a satisfaction perspective that this kind of job can’t?

The Batlord 12-04-2019 05:23 PM

I can keep it without pretending to be a good employee.
