I don't have anything against NA/AA. They helped my dad and I've seen them help others.

But for me personally, the downside is that your life starts to revolve around talking about how great it is to be sober. Almost like your trying to convince yourself more than anyone else. Bukowski had a decent poem about it.

It's hard to be humble when your life was ****, and now it aint. Take the principles and leave the bravado. lol

My roommate/mom's bf is currently working the steps. He likes the stability and structure of AA but really prefers the NA crowd lol. He's says they're crunchier, and easier to relate to.

If you're living in your mother's house that does not make her your roommate.
