I don't fetishize it at all, I just view entertainment in it's proper context. I don't stress out if a rapper I like days something I don't agree with or think is stupid. They're people just like you and me. Flaws and all. You would be the type who is up tight enough to get upset at "dude looks like a lady." Who gives a flying ****? The song under my thumb by the rolling stones is also chauvinistic as hell. Still a good song. It's like watching a gangster movie. You sympathize with the character even though you don't want to imitate the same behavior in your own life.

No it isn't. It's about chauvinism. No wonder you don't get it since you only listen to music where the artist is talking about themselves. Dumb ****.

I said that as a jab cause you seem to attach a lot of your identity to what you listen to and you also attach a lot of your identity to your politics. And some you seem to hate the one popular black form of music, maybe that doesn't gel with your progressive schtick so you make it about white guys who listen to rap. As if there's one specific kind of white guy who listens to rap. Its a genre that has been imported to every culture on earth. Its actually more of a stereotypical white guy thing to hate on it, either cause they don't use instruments or cause you don't like the violent lyrics etc or in your case probably more cause it's all about bravado and posturing and not as introverted and emo as the music you like.

Same
![]() We've talked about this before, but I think that's bull****. Nothing about that song indicates irony or distancing, and Keith Richards actually talked apologetically about their mysogenist lyrics from that era

idc though. it doesn't bother me that you don't like hip hop. not everybody likes everything. that's just my 2 cents on the matter. i get the vibe from you that you think loving something obscure like post punk makes you part of some special elite club and i'm just saying no it doesn't. tldr there's more than one angle to appreciate the complexities of gender from. imo Nate Dogg has as much to tell you as the fall does. you just don't spoeak his language. |
