Coming from the first half of the 70s (Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, etc.) both disco and punk sucked when they hit during the second half.

As much as I like a lot of 70s hard rock 70s punk blows it the **** out of the water, and the NWOBHM owes half its sound to punk. Iron Maiden couldn't have sounded like they did without the Ramones and The Clash.
