So that's a yes and I'm just wondering why you're going through all this trouble stopping and starting school for a degree that will just have you working at a record store.

Maybe he likes English and literature and would like to deepen his knowledge and isn't specifically concerned about advancing his career options through higher education.

Maybe.

Kind of a silly thing to do if you're poor as **** paying your own way through community college while your 30s are knocking at the door. I'd hope he was at least hoping to use the ****ing degree.

I'll throw my hat in this one once more and just say that I got my degree over a decade ago from a community college so I was able to avoid that whole crippling debt thing that most colleges offer. I paid for every credit on the spot. No loans.

Really, you Charles, of all the people here, are criticizing his life/future career choices and the ability to earn money and not be poor? Reallyreally?

Ja elph, you're really ****ing yourself over by doing something interesting instead of something that benefits the capitalist structure you despise.

besides, it's a myth that liberal arts degrees don't pay for themselves

A library card is free. I know you just want a peace of paper so you don't have to feel like the hoi polloi.

I think not wasting thousands of dollars on a vanity degree is a pretty good life choice.

I am not that kid who called you a queer for reading Emily Dickinson in class. If you were 20 years old and on an actual path of any sort I'd have nothing to say. I know a "forever in community college" type when I see one.
