Congrats to Batlord and Marie M for meeting up in real life. It's the kind of thing that gives validation to all of us who have spent time on here, in that half-way world between being friends and complete strangers. I'm still curious for details, tbh: How did you recognise each other? What did you think of each other's choice of clothes? Was conversation slow to kick off or was it more like instantly babbling to each other? Did you agree straight off on a bar crawl or was anything else suggested? Much talk about music, or MB, or not? I've occasionally tried to imagine how it would be to meet someone from MB irl, but my insight has only got this far: weird.

Also thanks to jwb, grindy and Batlord for lesson about Brontosaurus, and for lesson about how to trade scathing insults over issues however minor. Nice!
(Like Marie, the brontosaurus factoid was completely new to me: can't wait to use it myself to show everyone what a well-informed guy I am.)

My day: it's a national holiday and I've recently recovered from covid, so my day starts with a touch of energy and optimism that's been missing for a week or two.

to satisfy your curiosity: recognising Charles wasn't difficult considering that I've seen pictures. No surprise about clothes either for the same reason (and I remember I once asked a saturday 6pack question about that). The pub crawl just kind of happened. Meeting irl felt a bit unreal but at the same time natural, there's plenty of things to talk about. We didn't even talk about MB members or music very much tbh

Glad you're past the covid, Lisna.

Marie, out of curiousity, was Batlord naked when you met him? :D

No, probably because that's not allowed in an uber

It reminds me of every c*nt back in the day that ever posted a "I ****ing Love Science" meme on Facebook. They don't love science. They love the idea of loving science.

if we were 6 years old and you tried to tell me one of my favorite dinosaurs didn't exist, or that raptors actually looks like gay little birds, I probably would've attacked you tbh.

I used to make up fake dinosaurs when I was 6, not fact check real dinosaurs. What a ****in buzzkill move for a 6 year old, brody.

I would've ****ed you up at 6 years old. I was not in my right mind.

Anybody:

JWB: You think you're better than me?

SGR 11-21-2022 02:18 PM

So there's a discussion about the existence of the Brontosaurus? Someone ****ed up years ago with a dinosaur skeleton and paleontologists railed about it - but now there's discussion that it was real even though our knowledge about it came from a bad reconstruction? And brontosauruses were basically (if they were real) smaller brachiosauruses?

If the brontosaurus wasn't real, are there other dinosaurs that aren't real? I mean, at least I know that Liopleurodons were real, they wouldn't feature in Jurassic Park if they weren't....or would they? Now that I think of it, wasn't Littlefoot from The Land Before Time a brontosaurus? From what I've read, it looks like the scientific consensus is that the genus is unique enough to merit separate classification from the Apatosaurus.

jwb is right about the Facebook science meme people tho. They probably also love to wear tie dye.

Thanks for the details, Marie! I hope you enjoyed yourself and are not now struggling with the record snowfalls in that area.

Lady had to type in my apples price into the computer at the store and she charged me $2.50 for the bag instead of $7.99 how they were supposed to be https://media.tenor.com/BX9-KUvOne0A...h-hell-yes.gif
