I have no idea. I understand why they do it, but it sure interrupted my week.

It only took a few minutes and we're going to have a new dishwasher eventually (apparently ours is the oldest surviving on the property right now) so I can't complain (plus I'm using my vacation hours to cover my time missed at work today).

We have yearly apartment inspections too. Not sure if it's per state, or proprietary company, but I agree they are annoying as hell. All the guy did was flush the toilet, check the fridge, test a few lights, and shut/open a bunch of doors. **** that I would obviously call about if anything wasn't working correctly.

I wasn't around at the time, so I guess I can't really say, but I think that movie had a lot to do with changing people's perceptions about the training standards of American troops. I'm sorry, but if a soldier can't take a punch in a safe, training environment, then they have no business being in the military.

Training soldiers is a discipline which has been practiced and refined for millenia. If it required touchy feely, liberal intervention to maximize its effectiveness, then I imagine it wouldn't have evolved the way it did. Social liberalism is great for society in general, but when it comes to the armed forces, I'd prefer amoral pragmatism to dictate policy.
