Is it grammar though? It's idiom, which I don't think counts as grammar. And if it does, this is grammar with a basis in logical meaning. Most grammar is just random rules like conjugation of verbs that don't have much underlying logic (especially in English )

I don't think it matters because it requires you to jump to the conclusion that I care so little that I couldn't care less when no amount of care was established in the first place. I technically couldn't care less about carne asada fries because it's physically and emotionally impossible for me to not absolutely love them.
