Not always true. Strawberries are notorious for soaking up liquids, even like if you rinse them under the spigot, they'll soak up the water. On the other hand bananas go well in cereal cause they're semi-permeable non osmotic.

Nah bananas still get pretty disgusting. They're not as bad but it's still like trying to eat a slug.

Exactly! I slice the bananas over the cereal, e.g. the Rice Krispies act like a buffer zone between the milk and the slice bananas. I don't get why he has such a problem with making cereal!?

I like my cereal to soak in milk and become soft. What you're talking about sounds like it's dividing the textures while I like my cereal to reach a kind of equilibrium with the milk.
