I'm fairly certain I have that thing called delayed sleep phase syndrome. When I'm able to sleep during the day, I sleep fine, but if I sleep at night, I wake every 2.5 hours no matter what. And so I usually give up at some point. Last night I went to bed at 6 pm for no reason so of course now I'm awake at 3 am.

Except that I've now found a joy in going to bed around 8 or 9pm and getting a solid 8 hours of sleep every night. I feel so well rested these days that's it's disgusting.

Eat a dick, insomniacs.

I feel your pain.

Here, have a pilot for a failed show starring Jack Black as a guy who gets smarter in daylight, and Owen Wilson as a talking motorcycle.

And this too:

Meredith is wonderful. I performed with her and her company at the Fort Worth Water Gardens many years ago.
The latest time seeing her was at Big Ears Festival last March doing Book of Days.

Frownland 01-15-2018 11:30 PM

If I could pull it off, I would just take a 1-3 hour long nap every 3 hours.

Chiomara 01-16-2018 12:14 AM

That would feel like the most natural sleep schedule, honestly. I want the lifestyle of a baby sloth.

Anyway, I have a mild sore throat and so I'm waiting for my Primatene tablets to kick in (they work much better than other things for sinus drainage I find) which means I obviously can't sleep in this terribly ill state. Time to see what Gypsy Rose Blanchard has been up to:

If any of you haven't heard of this case, it's extremely horrifying but really interesting, too-- here's the documentary:

Personally I don't feel she should be in prison for that long; she clearly needs intensive therapy and rehabilitation more than anything seeing as her mother abused her and basically imprisoned her her entire life already. I wonder if there's any hope left for her. I imagine she has a lot of wildly unhealthy coping mechanisms left over (one has to learn how to become very naturally manipulative when you have an abusive narcissist as a parent, I'd assume) so I hope whatever therapy she gets in prison is halfway sufficient at least.

When you were such a horrid person in life that your own ****ing father ends up flushing your ashes down the toilet.

Yeah, by all accounts she was completely 100% evil. It's really unfortunate that she managed to keep Gypsy's dad in the dark entirely. He seems like a decent person based on his interviews.

On weekdays I usually go to sleep early, then wake up around two in the night and stay awake for 2-3 hours. I blame stress at work.

You’d be all about it if YOU were Murderface.

Oriphiel 02-17-2018 02:21 AM

Tfw you wake up at two in the morning and can't fall back asleep, so you pull up a story that you wrote and have been editing, and reading the story back to yourself makes you want to puke because it's hilariously awful, but then you stumble across a small segment hidden in the shit that is actually not so bad, in fact it's pretty good, which is funny because you actually thought of it as the worst part of the story as you were writing the first draft and almost deleted it, but now you consider throwing away the other 120,000 words and just turning the small segment of goodness into it's own short story.

Anyone else ever get that?

OccultHawk 02-17-2018 07:04 AM

Too lazy to try to write.

Oriphiel 02-17-2018 08:07 AM

I used to be pretty lazy about it, too. Best advice I ever got was to keep at it every day, no excuses. Start small, maybe setting aside just a half hour for it, or setting a realistic quota for yourself, and then work your way up from there.

Just smoke a bowl, watch cartoons for an hour and falls asleep, like a normal person.

Oriphiel 02-17-2018 12:35 PM

I can't do both?

Maybe I'm just a Jon Stewart smoker, but that sounds like a waste of the rest of your high.

OccultHawk 02-17-2018 02:18 PM

**** that

Sleep is active

Frownland 02-17-2018 02:32 PM

I smoke weed when I'm tired, when I need to wake up, when I'm too stoned, when I'm nauseous, when I'm hungry, etc. Except for today, I think I have bronchitis and the smoke ain't worth it.

OccultHawk 02-17-2018 02:38 PM

I guess especially sativa can be a little like coffee. Like if you start dozing off during a movie a hit will wake you up for a bit. But 30 minutes later it’s like zzzzzzz unless it was the first hit of the day.

It's a little different when you smoke often.

Oriphiel 02-18-2018 03:16 AM

Why are pants plural? Is each leg a pant, and when you stitch them together they make a pair of pants?

Like, are my jeans secretly a duality of pantaloon, both sides clashing for domination?
