Can you find an infograph about red rocket conversions?

Learned today this video was shot in Puerto Rico. From the beginning the layout seemed so familiar and then the shot from el morro popped up. Given how bad the actors are in this i think they Puertorican too.

Yup. I wasn't a fan of all that when doing mech. design, but it paid the bills. If the ****ing US would just go metric I could eliminate the 25.4 conversion on some of the drawings I get. Dammit. Way too much legacy data out there though. Ad nauseam.

so you'd rather have a metric one? because the professor had one of those today and put it aside said we weren't messing with those.

Metric is easier. It's all increments of 10, whereas Imperial is 16th's/12th's and extremely antiquated.

I mostly used micrometers for 'As-Built' drawings, which is where you go measure a part and draw it up using CAD (or on a board if you're still working in the 1970's).

I ran a turret lathe in between jobs a while back and couldn't wait to get back into the design world where I draw, and other people make what I give them.

That if they're going to get pardoned at the White House, ****loads of money gets spent on them and they even get to stay at $500 a night hotels. Pretty crazy.

If youre into CAD you should look into GIS(what i do). Not sure what kind of degree or job youre aiming for but you may find it interesting.

DwnWthVwls 11-21-2018 11:31 AM

Honestly its pretty insane. Its not for anything in particular it does soo much.

Google map type routing systems, surveying/gps, 3d modeling, infrastructure networks. Ill write up some of the stuff im working on when im not on my phone.

Plankton 11-21-2018 11:41 AM

Some of the Civil 3D stuff from AutoDesk like point clouds and GIS mapping was around at a few jobs I was involved in, but it's been a long time and they've come a long way with parametric modelling integrated into the package. Here's a bit of a window into the Civil world, albeit in the form of an advert, but I'm sure DWV has a bit more in insight.

An astronaut who was unable to go up on the Apollo 13 mission still ended up going for the Apollo 16 mission.

Thomas Kenneth Mattingly II was exposed to the German measles, forcing him to give up his seat. John L. Swigert, Junior took his place.

The correct way to position your non-dominant hand when using a knife for any kind of food preparation actually increases the likelihood of nicking yourself but greatly decreases the likelihood of cutting yourself badly. So if your job is cutting food for hours everyday you’re better off if you accept that occasional small cuts are unavoidable than trying too hard to never get cut at all. If you’re too timid about holding the item in place you’re more likely to slip and really cut yourself deeply. You might remember I mentioned I cut myself yesterday. The chef said told me that my technique was good I just lost focus but being more cautious won’t prevent it only staying focused will.

Alaska named an airport in honor of their Senator Ted Stevens. He is the 2nd longest tenured Republican Senator of all time; only surpassed by Senator Orrin Hatch in 2017. Unfortunately, he’s been dead for over 8 years.

The best all-around cleaner is galltvål or bile soap. You can use it to wash your clothes, your floors, pretty much to clean anything. It is environmentally friendly and it doesn't seem to bother anyone's allerrgies or pets.

And what is the secret ingrediant? It is bile, or gall, made from the bile of slaughtered animals. Bile is a natural degreaser and made in the liver. Great stuff but I never have seen it sold outside of Europe.

The Batlord 11-25-2018 10:51 AM

Didn't even know it was a thing.

Today I learned that "factotum" is

Quote:

1 : a person having many diverse activities or responsibilities
2 : a general servant
I just think it's a great sounding word.

DwnWthVwls 03-06-2019 05:11 AM

Youre BKs finest factotum.

TBH, it was a couple of days ago, but I recently learned that Luke Perry (actor) is not the same as Matthew Perry (actor).

DwnWthVwls 03-06-2019 10:36 AM

I bet you woulda got 100% if you shared some of those apples with ur teacher.

I only do one job though cause I refuse to learn to do anything else. Luckily they want to keep me in the back anyway so that I don't talk to customers.

DwnWthVwls 03-06-2019 02:36 PM

I was using the second definition.

The Batlord 03-06-2019 02:38 PM

I'm not a very good servant. I talk way too much **** because I refuse to respect hierarchies. I don't even know why I still have a job tbh.

Frownland 03-11-2019 12:36 PM

TIL that Cortana is voiced by Hillary Clinton.

Frownland 03-13-2019 07:40 PM

I remember the day I learned that. Then I remember seeing that the cell phone video couldn't be replicated by anyone with scientific merit.

DwnWthVwls 03-13-2019 07:44 PM

Are you suggesting Mindfulness uses the thread I made for his version of science? :P

for you to learn more about radiation if you want. :o:

What you’re doing is much harder.

I hate online ****. There’s no forgiveness. One class I took online had an exam that had like a 30 minute time limit and if you scored less than 80% you FAILED the course. I ended up with a 100 but I felt like it was a bull**** way to manufacture academic rigor.

Lisnaholic 05-12-2019 06:13 AM

I´ve never taken or administered an on-line course, but have participated in online workshops and a course I teach now has a compulsory online component. Everyone, loathes it, incl me.

Congrats on your patience and your results, Mindfulness :thumb:
