Glass Top Tables vs. Wooden Top Tables

Not when you want to actually do some kind of writing or drawing on it.
...and I don't think we're talking about buying anything new - just preferences.

That's true. I always draw on a cardboard sheet or something, not with my paper directly on the table though. But even small scratches can mess up your pencil work for sure.

Rostasi's tidy arrangement notwithstanding, for me it's 100% wood all the way. With wood, it's not so hard to make your own table, or adapt what you have to a new location. If I can find a photo of the table I'm most proud of I'll post it.

A problem with glass tops is that, afaik, you can't nail anything on to them, or, as I have done with wood, drill through them and suspend an extra shelf underneath. The other thing I don't like about glass tops is that they're usually supported by metal frames, which again do not allow for individual adaptation. With a wooden desk , for example, you can screw hooks in the sides to hang your keys, your latex-fetish mask or er...

Yeah, for treating furniture like swiss cheese,
I'll stick with wood work tables in the garage.

Wooden. Glass tables leave marks and it's easy to see. Wood is easier to hide those marks.

Twenty years plus of Windex and no marks on the glass.
Much of the wood ... well, let's say I bought some "pens"
the other day for filling in wood cracks in various surfaces.
Some wood surfaces will have to be sanded when I get the chance.

Sometimes plain old particle board works just fine for some things too:
