^ Great band! I've seen them perform live several times since the early 90's. Always a good show.

You are clearly the winner when it comes to Bridge songs, ziggywas. Honourable mention to Psy-Fi too, for this video clip, a little-known outtake from Zabriskie Point:-

And here's a great track from a Nortec Collective album on which Calexico turn up as guests. ( ADVISORY: This song contains no mention of bridges.) |
lisnaholic thanks. since its a game and not a contest cheers to psy-fi for beeing the only one who played along!!
the esabanda video doesnt play in my country and all i found was a dub verion... one more bridge-song (last one i think) i had in mind: by Scott Walker when he was..mainstream. may he rip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgLfvwm4mg4 |
A bridge with quite a bit of historical significance that I haven't walked across in years but it used to be a favorite spot to occasionally visit with friends back in the 70's and early 80's. The one in the photo is a reproduction of the original which was taken down 18 years after the start of the American Revolutionary War. Quote:

^ That's a nice bridge, Psy-Fi, or perhaps more notably, a beautiful location. When you are out walking, the midpoint of a bridge is a place to instinctively take a rest and have a look around, isn't it? Here are two bridges I've paused at the middle of on several occasions.
A Cornish village I used to visit on holidays, and one of London's bridges at an unusually low tide:- https://photos.francisfrith.com/frit...955_g68002.jpg.https://www.andrewbarnes.co.uk/img/s...57453327-3.jpg Quote:

Chula, Lisnaholic and Psy-fi these are some nice bridges. i particularly like the 1st photograph in Lisna's post......
i cant believe i forgot (til now) the bridge of death. before you cross it you have to answer some questions and its crossing is inevitable in the quest for the holy grail....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPOyOM7wxlE |
Quick side note: Read somewhere that it takes a crew just about a full year to paint the entire GGB - and as soon as they are done they start all over again.
Really? Again? http://www.bldgblog.com/wp-content/u...HandLuke23.jpg |
I think that's standard for longer bridges cause I remember hearing the same thing about the big dumbass bridge going to Wellesley Island in upstate New York.

I'm not sure that civil engineering, heights or sky diving are the right accompaniments for a psychedelic experience. In my day it was all about wall hangings, picture books and listening to Saucerful of Secrets - or a walk in the woods for the more intrepid.

A Three Stooges marathon is cool too. Linda told me that her and her friends once locked a tripping friend in a big dog's pen for an evening. Dude didn't know the dog.

this is a pretty famous bridge in my country: γοργοπόταμος bridge. it was sabotaged in 1942 by guerillas in collaboration with english commandoes in order to cut/delay the nazis supply line to their forces in south greece and (maybe) north africa.. it was a heavily guarded bridge so it took a big fight to get close.
its one of the rare occasions the communist guerillas (and the vast majority of the guerillas were communist-politically left leaning) callaborated with some right-wing guerillas (mostly ex-army officers) in order to get what you see in this picture done. after some time they began fight each other and the final outcome (after the nazis left) was a fully wadged civil war that lasted til 1949. in the small picture: in retaliation the italians, who were responsible for guarding the bridge, shot 14 prisoners, 7 of them in the place were the sabotage took place. https://cdn.sansimera.gr/media/photo...rgopotamos.jpg https://www.rizospastis.gr/getImage....edium&id=55226 |
^ That's an interesting story, ziggywas, and a reminder of the life-or-death bravery of people who resisted the Nazi occupation of Europe.
A fun bridge from Psy-Fi and a great photo from Mindfullness. I heard about the flood on this morning's news and was surprised to realise it was the same place that you posted about a couple of days ago. __________________________________________________ _______________________________ Some bridges are rightly famous, but some are just lucky enough to turn up on album covers through no particular merit of their own:- http://www.beefheart.com/wp-content/...out.album_.jpg.....https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...iveBridges.jpg |
