Default Is there a benefit to letting my daughter in jail or are they gone calls enough?

since there is an off topic section here thought I would ask

The charge is a check fraud charge and it is a 6 and 1/2 month sentence. My daughter she seems to be handling it fine. I told her right away about it and she reacted pretty calmly. I told her mom did the wrong thing and is rightfully serving her punishment. They have a good relationship. The main problem I have is she will see her mom in a jail jumpsuit and see guards and other inmates that could be intimidating. Is that ok for a 15 year old to see? Actually my daughter does not seem scared but instead seems excited and enthusiastic to visit. This is strange to me. Do you find this normal? My daughter seems to find the idea of her mom having to wearing a uniform, sharing a room funny. I wonder why she would think it is funny. My wife says bring her if she would like to and my daughter says she would like to but I don't know if it is a good idea. She hasn't gone yet so we can still discuss it together.

If she wants to go and her mom's cool with the idea, then bring her with you.
Maybe she'll learn something worthwhile from the experience.

I think it's a good idea. Her mother will probably be having hygiene problems tbh so it would be nice if your daughter would give her a care package with a nail file.

His baby momma wrote a bad check and is now in jail and her daughter is all like, "Hella cool, dawg, I wanna send a prison Instagram".

Hey, I'm a teacher. I'll give the best answer I can with the info I've got.

I would guess that your daughter is feeling worse about this than she's letting on- it's pretty normal for kids her age to cover up pain with jokes and levity. And if your daughter is a go-getter or relatively mature and capable, she may view this as a challenge to overcome. Give her space to deal with her emotions and make yourself available to help her through ****.

I say let her go, but I don't know your particular circumstances, so do what your gut is telling you. Also, respect your daughter's choices- she's fifteen. She's old enough to choose to see her mom if that relationship is important.

That's my two cents. Good luck.

Also, welcome to Music Banter.

As for the bolded part... think back to when you were her age and some of the things you thought were funny and/or exciting that you look back on now and wonder "what the **** was I thinking back then?"
She'll eventually grow out of that way of looking at certain things/situations.
If anything, visiting a prison and seeing what it's actually like inside as a prisoner, might wise her up rather quickly to the seriousness of the situation.
