Understandably, a lot of the focus of news stories is about the first wave, numbers of infected on the rise, etc.

Does anyone have info on what follows? The source city in China is still locked down I believe, drones telling people to stay indoors. Is that what we should expect elsewhere? Complete cities of people under house arrest for weeks ?

Man I don't know but I'm trying to remember to wash my hands a lot ****ing more.

I think it would be fantastic to have an ironclad excuse to not do a goddamn thing.

^ HaHa! yes, sounds perfect from the perspective of someone with a physically exhausting job - not so appealing from the perspective of someone living alone, who can imagine days spent struggling with a fever, to weak to get up before dying unnoticed.

I mean you still sound like someone having fun with the idea but imagine that you're someone infected who's worried about being sick, but still has to go to work cause their boss doesn't care that they're sick so long as they can do their job and your major worry isn't being sick but making rent. The whole narrative of an epidemic is meaningless cause you need to make money and your boss wouldn't care even if they knew you had the coronavirus.

Not doing anything is my absolute favorite thing to do. I’m all for a shutdown. I’m so sick of how busy and crowded and frantic everything is. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine America making the moral decision to put life in front of industry the way China has.

OH would eat a dog turd sandwich for China.

All Serie A fixtures for at least the next month to be played in empty stadiums.

This is getting pretty serious now. With this and the suspension of the Swiss league, the Euros must be at risk. I wouldn't be surprised if it were postponed.

Two more cases in Scotland taking the UK total up to 53.

COVID-19 has been confirmed in Birmingham now. And two others in the West Midlands.

The number of patients rocketed yesterday, its now over 100 and the first person to die from it died today in Reading.

In Italy there have been over 100 deaths and 3,000+ cases. UK Government has moved on to the next phase of the plan to fight the virus, containment phase has ended and they are now trying to delay the pandemic, they're hoping to drag it out to the late spring or summer when the NHS will be under less pressure.

President Trump is known to say what's on his mind, to go with his gut and accentuate the positive. That approach is now colliding with a public health emergency in the form of coronavirus.

The challenge posed by Trump's breezy style was on full display Wednesday night in an interview in which he disputed the World Health Organization's recent coronavirus death rate estimate of 3.4%.

"Well, I think the 3.4% is really a false number," Trump told Sean Hannity on Fox News. "Now, this is just my hunch, and — but based on a lot of conversations with a lot of people that do this, because a lot of people will have this, and it's very mild. They will get better very rapidly. They don't even see a doctor."

"Personally, I would say, the number is way under 1%," Trump said.

...

"So, if we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work — some of them go to work, but they get better," Trump said.

Trump's upbeat tone made it seem as though he was suggesting it was a good thing that people with coronavirus could go to work.

jwb 03-06-2020 07:51 AM

The irony is if the number is wrong it's likely worse and China was covering **** up.

I just read a pamphlet that a friend got from work concerning the pandemic and after the first page of wash your hands stuff the rest of it was all saying there would be no changes regarding time off and how many days can be missed before getting fired and so on. The person works for a bank.

People are ****ing idiots. It is impossible to find toilet paper here in Australia because logic.

The real question is with the media whipping everyone into a frenzy over covid someone, somewhere must be up to something really fricking dodgy that they don’t want anyone to notice.

It’s no big deal left handing after a crap. More than half the world does it. Just wash really well. I did when I was in rural India, Bangladesh and in Nepal in the mountains.

I’m seriously frightened of this virus.

I know I’m prone to catastrophic thinking like when Trump murdered that Iranian general I though it was going to be full fledged all out war.

But they don’t even have testing kits here. It’s just like if you think you have stay inside please. But Americans are so selfish. I’m pessimistic about our willingness to do our part to keep as contained as possible until testing treatment and hopefully a vaccine are ironed out.

You have nothing to fear, but fear itself. Don't worry too much about what is on the news.
