I have a bad cough and live close to the Japanese internment camps where patients are being held. Suck on that, girindy.

A patient infected with the novel coronavirus in King County, Washington state, has died, a Washington Department of Health spokesperson said Saturday.
It's the first confirmed death from the coronavirus in the United States.
Further details were not immediately available. Health officials have scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. local time (4 p.m. ET).
It has begun. The end of days. I was planning on going to Costco on Monday. Gunna wrestle a person for some water.

Cuthbert 02-29-2020 11:39 AM

A Brit died yesterday also.

They have cancelled Ireland vs Italy in the Six Nations and three Serie A fixtures because of the outbreak in Italy, these are big events so its getting pretty serious.

WWWP 02-29-2020 12:10 PM

Confirmed case in Oregon as of this morning as well. I have all my old n95 masks from fire season, if they can filter out smoke particles they should be able to filter out a virus, right?

DwnWthVwls 02-29-2020 12:14 PM

Youre gonna want to save those for when your house burns down and you have to move in with Batlord.

WWWP 02-29-2020 12:27 PM

If I ever move in with batlord it will be when I slice him open like a tauntaun and climb inside his chest cavity for warmth.

You need more self deprecation in your humor. Own your inner jabba.

The Batlord 02-29-2020 02:54 PM

I prefer to deprecate others.

Also his outer Jabba.

Burger King owns my outer Jabba and I'm trying to keep them from bullseyeing a wamp rat in a T-16 Skyhopper and blowing up my Death Star/soul.

Coronavirus epidemy in Iran has past the crisis level. The country is imploding - law and order to disappear in the next days. A number of officials already died and mass infection among hospital staff and police forces reported. (Read full thread.)

France has banned public gatherings of more than 5,000 people.

Cuthbert 03-01-2020 06:54 AM

12 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the UK. Yesterday the first one where it had been passed on within the country.

Probably over the next couple of weeks there will be a sudden outburst of cases.

Mindfulness 03-01-2020 05:27 PM

CBS morning show, amazing show but they said the virus can go through the masks anyways.

Your best bet is probably just washing your hands a lot when you go out in public and never touching your face or putting anything in your mouth until you've washed your hands.

My crystals create a meta barrier that can be the difference between life and death. Or not.

What I’m saying isn’t pseudoscience.

Quote:

"Seriously people - STOP BUYING MASKS!" Surgeon General Jerome Adams tweeted. "They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!"

The CDC recommendations add that "the use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings."

Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said last week that the U.S. has a stockpile of 30 million N95 masks but needs at least 270 million more for health care workers alone to prepare for a more widespread outbreak.
So masks don’t work except they magically do start to work if you’re a healthcare provider. OK.

Sounds like the difference between breathing from an oxygen tank while getting groceries and breathing from an oxygen tank when you're on the surface of the moon to me.

Fact: If your daily routine brings you into proximity with an infected person you’re less likely to become infected yourself if you’re wearing a mask.

If it’s irresponsible to buy a mask when healthcare providers need them much more that’s how it should be expressed but saying “they’re not effective” for the general public is clearly disingenuous on a personal level based on the comments that directly follow. The Surgeon General‘s credibility is undermined by the self-contradictory nature of his comment. Just say it like it is.

There is a doctor who believes that AIDS comes from extreme hardcore drug use that wears at the immune system.

That is such an ignorant reach. Recently, absurd false equivalencies are your constant move. You’re reverting back to your trolling Chula days style of discussion. It’s beneath you. Accept that you lost this argument and move on.

Frownland 03-01-2020 10:03 PM

Beats getting hung up on the phrasing of something communicating the same thing that you are as some kind of undermining factor.

Cuthbert 03-02-2020 09:59 AM

Another four tested positive for coronavirus today, UK total up to 40.

They think its been on the West Coast of the USA for a while and lots of people will have the virus.

The Batlord 03-02-2020 10:07 AM

Good thing those restaurant workers don't have insurance or paid sick leave. I'm sure that'll help.
